My baby is 10 months, and I want to start teaching her how to use a sippy cup. When my first daughter was a baby, I spent so much money on trying out different sippy cups until I found the one she liked. So, this time around, I thought I would ask your advise on which kind to buy? Have you found a great sippy cup, that doesn't leak much, and is easy for the baby to drink out of? I know some of them have complicated valves, difficult to get liquid out, etc... So, I would love it if you would share your findings :-) I'm planning on going sippy cup shopping this weekend :-) Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I purchased the Nuby Training sippy cup w/ handles. I also got the Playtex Soft Spout Training cup w/ handles, but the Nuby one worked a lot better. The Playtex one just leaked a lot and made a big mess. So, THANK YOU for all of the wonderful advice :-)

I can't offer personal experience, as my daughter is still not using one, but I was recently wondering the same thing and was told that Nuby brand are good starter sippy cups. Obviously I haven't tried them, but thought I would pass that along.

My daughter hated all sippy cups. We have now started with a small drinking cup. She loves it. (She's 9 months old) We use the regular cup once per day so she can practice.

R. have you had any success?

My little one just turned 1 and we've been trying the sippy cup search too. The Nuby with handles are good, they are easy to get liquid out of because they just have to bite (and as they are teething that happens frequently) My little girl also likes the Playtex but without the "flow" in so that she does not have to suck.

I have found with both of my girls and with several other children I have cared for over the years that the Nuby sippy cups with the clear silicone top are the easiest to start them out on. They don't leak and they are easy for a baby to use. Once they get good at it you will want to transfer to a regular sippy (like playtex), but the Nuby is a great starter cup.
