Single Mom in Distress...

I have an 8 year old boy and have just found out I was pregnant again. I am in no position to have another child. I'm not with the father. He said he would help with whatever decision I make but he's in no position to be a parent right now. I have had quite a run of bad luck this past year. I just don't know what to do. The thought of terminating this pregnancy makes me sooooo sad.

What can I do next?

I get calls weekly from women in your position. I also get all the calls from women who were in your position and now several years later they are dealing with court, child support or lack of it, visitation schedules etc.... No one can make the choice for you but I dont think that if you choose to terminate that it is anythign that you should ever feel guilty about and it would not make you selfish. Yes it is sad and it is OK to feel sad. You have another child that is already here to think of. Whatever you decide will be the right thing but do think of the long term as well. I have been in your shoes and it is not easy, if you have a close friend who will listen and not pressure you either way I would strongly suggest talking to her.

S.,

I can image what a hard decision you are faced with. But there are options to terminating the pregnacy. In my situation I found out I was unable to concieve a child when I was 30 years old and faced with the decision to never be a Mom or try adoption. I am now the proud mother of a 3 year old boy because there was a young lady in the same position you are in now who chose to place her baby for adoption. The Birthmother of my son choose my husband and through a profile we created for a christian adoption agency we signed on with. We were able to meet the birthmother and birthfather prior to the birth and we were also there for the actual birth. It was the most wonderful experience of my life. We were given a precious gift from our birthmother that is the joy of my life right now. I can understand this too is a hard decision but there are alternatives and a lot of couples in my situation who would love and care for your baby as their own. Best of luck to you and God Bless... I understand how you feel, I'm a single parent of a 7yr old boy, and money is tight. Your child didn't ask to be brought into this world, but he's here, and you need to provide him with the best possible life you can. Mistakes happen to all human beings, you're not a 'bad' person because you got pregnant.

Termination is not the only option, there are thousands of wonderful people in this country that can't have their own children and would give your unborn child a loving home.

But, whatever decision you come to, whether it be adoption or termination. Don't second guess yourself, and don't have any regrets, just move on and be the best Mom you can be to the child you have right now.

Good luck my dear.
