Hi Moms,
I have a very active 22 month old who loves to sing and dance. We took Music Together before which she enjoyed very much, but I was wondering if there is another class that involves both singing and dancing? I am in Studio City and would prefer a class on the weekend if possible. Willing to drive about 30 minutes in any direction for a fun class!

What can I do next?

Hi,

Temple Israel of Hollywood offers both Rockin' Tots and Dance n' Jingle Mommy and Me classes; getting there from Studio City wouldn't take more than half an hour; don't believe these classes take place on weekends, but they also offer a more traditional Jewish Parent and Me on Saturday mornings. heck out the classes at the Burbank Rec center. We go to a great music class there and they dance around while we play. They have a ton of classes to choose from.

Too young. Get music cd's and play them in your house and in the car. Go to thrift stores and yard sales and get costumes she'd have fun to dress up with. She needs to first get familiar with music, rhythm and balance and let her imagination grow. Take her to live shows. Kids who are started too young frequently burn out of enthusiasm just when their motor skills begin to develop.

I'd wait until 5 or 6 years old.

Garri Dance Studio in Burbank has wonderful kids classes. You can start ballet/tap classes for her/him at 22 months. I started my daughter at 2 years 2 months. At first I thought it was too early, but she loved it. (had one month where I had to sit in class with her) She is almost five now, and is still taking classes there and still loves it! Always make it fun and playful, "guess what, we get to go to ballet today!". Also, look into Creative Station.

I take my daughter to Music Stars and Masters in the mall at overland avenue and pico. She really loves it, they sing, dance and play instruments, they have classes during the weekends, and it is just so much fun!
