ICK!! I'm totally grossed out - we moved into our new home about a year ago and every once in a while I'd see a silverfish in our downstairs bathroom or in the kitchen sink drain. I keep a very clean house, so these little pests have me totally grossed out. I thought they'd go away after me cleaningfor some time. This morning I went into the bathroom closet to get my 16 week old a washcloth and there was one in his towels. EWWWWWW! Now they've 'messed' with my baby and thats it, last straw!!! I freaked and grabbed the pile and started shaking them out in the bathtub, but no silverfish which means its still in the closet - man do they move fast! How do I get rid of these little varments FOREVER???? HELP!

What can I do next?

We've had this problem. Our exterminator says they like moisture and fiber. He puts these little foam tab things under our sinks, dryers and shelves which is basically like paper but the silverfish eat them and then die aka they won't breed.

He has also said to get rid of any woven baskets of any kind, and to not keep anything kind of paper like stacks of magazines or newspapers on the floor. Keep your toilet paper and paper towels in a tub. We did this years ago and it has alleviated our problem. I do see one every once in a while - as in, 3-4 times a year. But getting rid of all our baskets helped.

We had a few in one of our homes. They are attracted to moisture (which is why you find them in the bathroom in the tub or sinks, etc). Make sure you are getting those damp places dried out. Run the exhaust fan in the bathroom to remove moisture. Check for any leaks. And yeah... maybe even call in an exterminator?
If you google them, you might be able to find some suggestions about what to do to eliminate them without having to call in a professional.

I know, they are so gross.
We rotated our mattress the other night and saw a few on the underside of the mattress! And this is a relatively new mattress, one year old, not some dirty old thing and we keep our bedroom very clean. But there they were hanging out. I was disgusted.
We got pest control to come out and that's probably what you should do too.
Good luck!
