We will be driving from North East Ohio to Walt Disney World. We are leaving on a Friday morning, planning on getting to Disney on Sunday Morning. Anyone have any must hit spots along I77 or I95? Family will do any kind of history, art, natural sciences ect.... We are not into sports of any kind...so no football hall of fame or nascar lol! We will do aviation, cars, trains, ect too. Thanks to you if you have any ideas! I posted this on my facebook and have had no responses! Would love to find an old Antebellum style plantation house to visit but haven't had any luck finding one yet.

What can I do next?

Depending upon how far off of I-95 you are willing to go, there are several points of interest you might consider around the Savannah area and also on Jekyll Island.
There is an Air Force Museum just off I-95 at Savannah, GA.

At Jekyll Island there is a historic district that has tours of the millionaire's village. And if you want, you can even stay at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel (the original millionaire's club retreat)... There is more history on the island than JUST the historic millionaire village, but that is where you can tour the homes.

Also, nearby, St. Simon's Island has Fort Frederica which is a neat little place to see, and there is also the lighthouse and it's museum.

Oh.. all of the above are less than 15 miles off the interstate. But there is also a train museum in downtown Savannah, but it is more like 30 minutes off the interstate.

ETA: If you do opt for going into Savannah, there are a couple of forts in the area that are interesting. Fort Pulaski and Fort McAllister.
And here's a link to the Roundhouse train museum:

If you enjoy unique restaurants, Diners, drive-ins and Dives TV show has a web site that shows the places he has been to. http://www.flavortownusa.com/

Since you have to eat on the way down, I'd suggest going to these places. I have been to several and they have all been great.

Good luck to you and yours.

You will be going through Charolotte NC, and there are several plantations in the area. Same thing with Savannah - an afternoon at the town square would be interesting and there are lots of tours in the area. Historic Rosedale is one i know of but have not visited. There are lots of great caves in West Virginia. Once you get into Florida, St. Augustine is a great historical spot to visit off of I-95. Someone had recommended that I go on the AAA website and check out their trip planner for ideas. And, if your trip is still a few weeks away, you have time to check out the toursim websites for each state. They will send you packets of ideas of things to do. Finally, you can try what we did on our trip to the SW this summer - get a detailed atlas of the states you will travel through and look for landmarks and sites marked. We found some of the neatest things this way - things we never found on touristy websites and printed brouchures!
