Sick and Tired of This...

My DD brought home a "flu-like" virus (but not the actual flu) about 3 weeks ago, and around the same time my DH brought home sinusitis. Ever since then, it seems like both have been making continuous rounds in our house. We've tried everything, washing bed sheets every other day, and towels after every use. Medicine cups and toothbrushes go through the dishwasher every day. I've sprayed down the toys with disinfectant, and cleaned our house so often recently it would probably make most hospitals proud! Speaking of hospitals...we've spent over $250 in medical bills (and this is with excellent insurance benefits) in the last 3 weeks! It probably doesn't help that I'm limited on the medications I can take right now. Any suggestions on something else we can try to get us all better? This is getting old, and we're getting really frustrated!

What can I do next?

We started using emergen-c this year, you can find it in the vitamin supplement section. It has worked so well. My children have not gotten sick yet and there have been times I just knew they would be. I did get sick while at my in-laws over the holidays, I didn't realize my husband brought some emergen-c with him until I was pretty sick. I felt so much better emmediatly after taking it and my soar throat was completely gone in two days. There are alot of things out there that are similar, like zicam and airborne, I think I just saw a commercial for a new one today. Anyway I think it's all about the same, but my husband really prefers emergen-c. I hope this helps, Lori

My kids both take vitamins nightly along with an immune defense vitamin (its made by Sea Buddies). At the first sign of any kind of colds or flus I double the immune defense vitamin and give them emergenC and Sambucol. Sambucol is a black elderberry syrup that I have read some great things about.

We had company over Christmas. My dad flew in and awas getting over a cold, my husband and I both had colds, my mom got a terrible cold, and my sister and brother in law went home and got a cold 2 days later. My daughter did get a mild cold, but my son has been completely cold free. Knock on wood.

Good luck!
Ali

I also wanted to tell you if you get Sea Salt ( vitamin cottage has it) You can gargle with it mixed with warm water. Dr. Timothy Brantley was just on Rachael Ray I think friday and he had some great advice to fight colds using sea salt. He also has a book out "The Cure" heal your body save your life. He had some great advice. YOu can visit her website and read about his inteview was really good. HOpe this helps.

I have teamed up with a health and wellness company and we take a natural immune system builder and it is awesome. I take it pretty consistently during the winter months and havn't been sick at all.

Before finding this resource I use to take echinecea but it doesn't work like this. Plus I take a good multi vitamin and I have never been healthier.

If you'd like to know more about this company feel free to email me at [email protected]____.com for more information. We can set a time for me to share them with you.

Another thing I do is cook alot with fresh herbs and garlic.

Hope this helps.. C.

No good advise here - just want you to know I feel your pain! My 3 kids, 4, 1 and 4 weeks are all getting over colds. It's been horrible, especially with the baby. I am so paranoid about sicknesses, it makes me (and my husband) crazy. I hate this time of year and am preparing for months of sicknesses. I hope you all feel better soon.

that totally sucks! i'm huge on hand washing and we keep a dispenser bottle of germ-x or purrell in every room...the kids know if they sneeze they need to "put some germ stuff" on their hands and we always make them wash their hands before eating..it's tough, but i got strep a couple of months back and was able to keep it to just me and there's five of us in our house...also make sure to throw out and replace toothbrushes when ppl are sick...good luck to you, sounds like you're going to need it..healing vibes being sent your way...
