i am doing some major paper cleaning now that almost everything is computerized! is there a business to do your own paper shredding. i have little paper shredder that works great but only takes 5 sheets at a time. i have paper galore with sensitive info on it that i would much rather do it myself then hand it off to someone to do it for me.
Yes, there is a company in Frisco that will come to your home and shreds your paper while you watch. I am gathering boxes because I want it to be worth it for them and the min. price for me. They have a website just google shredding, they also recycle the shredded paper which is great.
I got a cross cut at Staples. I shred a LOT. Another way I try to avoid any information getting out is.....use about 3 trash bags and when I empty the shredder, I mix it all up and place in the 3 different bags. Then I throw it away (not recycle bin) by putting the bags in different containers. We have 2 regular trash carts and 1 recycle.
If someone wants my info, they have to work hard for it and God Bless them if they get through all my stuff.
if you buy a shredder, be careful when shredding driver's license, etc. I once found someone's dl on the street (I guess it fell out of the recyclin bin) it was "shredded" but it didn't break into little pieces.
We just got my MIL a new shredder that crosscuts. It also, cuts credit cards. Apparently, if a thief wants your info badly enough, he will put together the strips from the old kind of shredder. This just leaves little pieces that are impossible to put together.
