Shower Soap Scum

I have about a dozen different cleaning products that I have used only once or twice trying to clean my glass & tile shower. We struggle with soap scum and just aren't diligent enough to spray and squeegie every day. Does anyone know of anything that works well for a weekly clean?

Thanks in advance,
S.

Kaboom is definitely the best thing out there for soap scum on glass (and tile too). It doesn't have fumes and it workes great!! We stopped squeeging when I found this b/c it works so well and is so easy. Just spray it all over the glass, let it sit for a few minutes and then go over it with a textured sponge (don't always have to do that). Rinse clean and it looks like new!!

Hi S. -

This is what we do - we wipe down our glass with a towel after we get out of the shower. It's easy and MUCH faster than using a squeegie. To clean, we use Scrubbing Bubbles - it works great. I've had a couple of friends who asked how we keep our shower clean.

Good luck!

We are diligent about squeegee and wiping down the shower after each use.

As for cleaning, I use plain white vinegar in a spray bottle, let it sit and wipe down. I also like the Scrubbing bubbles product.

About once every 6 months or so, I use Marine Polish on the glass. It works like RainX. The water just beads off. This is a BIG job with a lot of buffing but it works.

This may sound weird but WD-40 is great for this. just spray it on your glass or plastic shower door and then clean off. then you can go over that with your regular cleaner if you want. the main ingreadient in WD-40 is fish oil. it is totally safe to use.

I will also add that shaklee products work awesome. my son spilled a gallon of white paint on our carpet and we had the cleaning company come out and it left a huge white stain on the carpet, my husband used the SHAKLEE Basic H and shaklee fabric softner (1/2 tablespoon of each per gallon of water in our carpet cleaning machine here at home) and it totally came out so well that you can hardly see the huge circle of paint that was on our carpet in the den.

S.,

I have been trying Kaboom this week but my build up was so much that I needed to use it twice. My absolute favorite which I am going back to is "Barkeepers Friend". It is a powder like comet only better. When the shower is wet, I shake it all over and make a paste and wipe it around on every surface. I let it set for a while, depends on how distracted I get, then I come back and scrub it. All you have to do is rinse it after that. It leaves things shiny and you can "feel" where you missed a spot b/c it is not slick to the touch.

After you get it scrubbed once, do something like Rain X to keep it looking nicer longer.

Maybe if I cleaned my shower weekly I wouldn't have buildup as bad. : )

Spot-X (Hardwater and Stain Remover). You can buy it at Home Depot. I tried over a dozen things plus suggestions on the internet b/c I refuse to squeegie or wipe everyday too. Spot-X requires alittle on your part (elbow grease) but you can do it while you're taking a shower.

I borrowed my friend's Shark steamer which did great to melt away thick scum we had never been able to remove from one tub (it was there when we bought the house). While the steamer worked wonders on the tile and porcelain, the Spot-X did the trick on the glass.
