Should I Change Formula ?

My newborn (16 days old) has recently started displaying signs of pretty bad gas. I've tried some Little Tummies Gripe Water and Mylicon Gas drops and that doesn't seem to be working. She is really really fussy especially later in the day, like around 8pm-1 am or so, she will act hungry then when I feed her she will start grunting loud and kinda pulling away from it... I try and try to burp her, and sometimes she does sometimes she doesn't. Even after she is totally fed she will continue to cry and grunt loud pulling up her legs. She is not puking, just some very minimal spit up here and there. Also she seems to be pooping fine, goes at least 2-3 times a day and its soft. Right now she is on Similac Advance Early Shield. Should I maybe try Similac Sensitive? I thought she was doing good on regular formula and them this started, ugh! My 1st had similar issues, but she was way worse (projectile vomiting, etc) and we ended up having to put her on Alimentum. Help, what should I do in this specific case? THANKS for any advice.

What can I do next?

Sounds a lot like my daughter when she was an infant. We made two switches, that seemed to do the trick. First of all, we switched formula to Good Start. Never went back, unless we were really desperate (out of good start and no money to buy more at the time!). Also, we switched bottles. When she was first born I used Avent bottles. I loved them, except that I was asking everyone for advice about her gas problem, and people told me to try Dr. Brown's bottles (forget those! expensive & p.i.t.a. to clean) or Playtex drop in's. So from about 1 month old until she grew out of bottles, we used the playtex drop ins. That way, you push out all the air just before you give her the bottle, and therefore she is sucking in less air when she's drinking. Good luck!

My son had lots of problems too. WE had him on nutramigen until he was 7 months old and then he was able to tolerate regular formula. WE put him on nestle good start and it's the best stuff out there in my opinion. I am pregnant with my second child and I am putting him on good start as well. I used that with a combination of the doctor brown bottles. Those are incredible for gassy babies. You can find them at babies r us. Probably target as well. I do agree that those mylecon drops and little tummies dont do squat.

I only endorse Carnation Good Start. They say it is the closest to breast milk, and I believe it. My first child had sooooo many problems with all those other formulas, I wish I would have tried Carnation Good Start back then. When I had my second, I breast fed (which was awesome!), and supplemented with Carnation Good Start and had no problems, so when I had my third, I did the same, and NO problems. So, this is why I endorse it...my second two children did wonderful on it; unlike my first child with all the other brands.

Hi there.
Our daughter had the same problem and those drops didn't work (my husband thought they did, but they didn't) Our doctor switched her formual a few times untill we found a good fit. Just talk to your dr. Alimentum worked great for us. It was the miricle formula for us. Good luck! :-D
