Shampoo Suggestions - Elmwood Park,IL

I'm in search of a new shampoo. I've never been loyal to one particular shampoo, plus I know you have to switch between at least two to avoid build-up. I really don't think there is much difference between one and another, despite what they "claim" they can do. I use non-permanent hair color on my hair, and have most recently used the Loreal EverPure and EverStrong brands and now tend to prefer the more concentrated-type of shampoos that really lather up. Now my hair seems to be getting a build-up from it and I need another one to maybe alternate it with. Any suggestions??

What can I do next?

Bumble & Bumble - expensive, but I don't wash my hair everyday, or every other day. I don't skimp on shampoo.

Try using either Nutrogena Clarifying Shampoo once, twice a month with your standard shampoo or you can try Wen ... I LOVE IT and I use the Nutrogena once or twice a month due to the products I use in my hair (curly needs help/control).

I used to work for a company that manufactured hair and skin products so I won't "sell" any brand to you. I will tell you most people wash their hair too much. Most of the time I wash my hair every other day and I think that is even too much sometimes. My scalp and hair both felt so much better once I switched from washing it every day.

I will also say, from my experience working at the hair care company the color treated shampoos have the least chemicals and are most gentle on your hair. I don't color my hair, but i still use the color treated shampoo. I don't use any conditioners.

Good Luck.

I LOVE Dove. It's my 'normal' shampoo, and I alternate it with either Pantene or Garnier Fructis. :)

I have been told by several stylist that, believe it or not, Suave and Dove are the best for hair and should not leave a build up. They are also incredibly cheap. Suave has a professional line and I think DOve and Suave both have shampoo for color treated hair

To remove the buildup, you could wash it every couple of weeks with a clarifying shampoo or maybe a swimmers shampoo. They strip the bad stuff, but redposit some good stuff.

Dove is a great alternative to your daily shampoo. Garnier Fructese is great too.

I used to use Neutregena as my "in between" shampoo. Now I use Fructose Garnier Basics in between Pantene .

Biolage Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner. It seems to preserve the color and the conditioner makes my hair feel soft. I'm older and have aging dry hair. When I used Dove (cheaper) my hairdresser could tell because my hair was getting strawlike and brittle. The Biolage is more expensive but does make my hair smoother and less frizzy.

I don't color my hair bit I used to use Pantene (It's cheap!) till every hair person said I had a ton of build up. I tried Bed head, and I have noticed a difference surprisingly. I always figured they were the same, but my hair does feel smoother and nice now.
