Sewing Machine Repair - Carol Stream,IL

I have a Kenmore sewing machine that I bought on ebay awhile back. I just started to sew with it and it is running slow and slugish. I had the same machine growing up and had it over 30 years until it couldn't be fixed anymore. It is the old Kenmore cast iron machine about 40 years old. Anyone know of a good repair person?

Thank you!
J.

There's a place in Lisle called DuPage Sew and Vac which repairs sewing machines. I would call vacuum repair places and see if they repair sewing machines as well. You could also call SEars. I take mine to Joann fabrics because they are a Viking dealer and that's the kind of machine I have. They also might service other machines. They don't do it, they send them out.

Hope one of those works!

I have used the services at Creative Sewing Center in St. Charles - just across from Charlestown Mall, next to Target on North Avenue. They are reasonable & very able.

Those old machines work so much better than the newer plastic ones! I have my mom's kenmore and it is my most reliable machine so far, and that includes a very solid & expensive Viking. They're just so much easier to use, no temper tantrums from them or me! lol.

I also have an older machine that I love - 1964 Singer Slant Needle. My father cleans and repairs all types of sewing machines and has taught me cleaning and oiling. This may be all it needs - it does get gunked up at times. Give me a call - I may be able to fix it (or Dad can) ###-###-####

DuPage Sew and Vac on Ogden Avenue, I think it's in Lisle, not too far from Naperville. They have repaired my machines and done tune ups on them and I have always been very pleased.
