Sewing Classes in Frisco?

I am pretty sad at sewing - but would really like to learn how to make some cute clothes for my little girl. I know how to cut a pattern, pin, etc. And I can hand sew quite well - but I get all discombobulated when I try to thread and use a machine. I can't seem to get it work right - and then feeding the fabric - oh lord - being left-handed - I have huge problems.

Any ideas? Oh and I work during the day - so it would have to be a nighttime class.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

These are GREAT suggestions - thanks so much! I looked at the Sewing Room ones (was excited as it is close to my house) but am bummed that they seem to all be during the day. I emailed the Plano Sewing Center to see how to get into a class - the classes seem to fit my schedule. The Joann's ones look good too. Does anyone know if they are 'structured' or more of the we will help you when you need it kind of thing?

Thanks again guys!

Thanks!!

Joanns has loads of classes for all skill levels. They are across Preston from the Mall in the same parking lot as Red Lobster and Bed Bath and Beyond.

Most of these classes are during the day like 4=6 and the summer camps are from 10 -12
I do teach private lessons and a class at Canyon Creek Church in Richardson in the evening from 7-9

My 15 yr old daughter is into sewing (just learning), and loves to design her own things, etc. (Thanks to Project Runway)

We just bought a machine for her from Plano Sewing Center located on the SE corner of Spring Creek/Custer. I was amazed at how helpful the staff was with her. The owner sat down with her and practiced on 3-4 machines before she selected a machine.

They do have classes at night available. The only reason my daughter is not in them is because she is so busy with her school and driver ed classes. She will probably take a class in the summer.

Very supportive staff.

You might call hancocks to see if they have any classes. Also try the City of Plano. They have many interesting classes.

The Sewing Room that is over by Stonebriar Mall in the same shopping center as the Super Target offers classes. You could check them out.

The Sewing Room in Frisco does have their classes during the day, but they are small and VERY good. They do offer some classes on Saturdays and Sundays, and if you buy a machine from them you do get individual instruction. You might stop by on a Saturday or Sunday to visit with them and see if they are a good match for you. JoAnn's, Michael's and Hobby Lobby all have locations near Stonebriar, too. I haven't tried their classes, but I would expect that some could be a great fit for you. (Oh, and when you're at the Sewing Room, check out their fabulous fabrics and precious patterns. With a little girl, you will definitely find something you love there!)
