Have any of you ladies tried to Somersize??? I just started the Somersize program(I haven't even read the book yet) I am following the basic guidlines to Level one. It's really hard to keep PRO/FATS seperate from CARBOS....I really want to eat my pasta with meatsauce ;) What has been your experience with this program???

What can I do next?

I disagree with keeping them seperate! I counsel people on nutrition and always say eat a combination of protein, fat, fiber, and carbohydrates together! I could go on for a long time. If you are interested you can contact me at ____@____.com

I have never tried her program, but cutting out any food group will bring about cravings. Most "programs," will not bring long term success. Regular exercise with healthy diet is your best bet,I have struggled with weight and eating dis-orders for most of my life. The best I have felt and looked is when I gave up goal weights and just went to a more natural diet. Exercise and food should simply compliment your life, not take up or consume it. If your are craving some pasta and meat sauce, eat it in a moderate fashion. As long as you have a regular exercise routine and stay with it, you will be fine. Food should never be looked at with guilt, it is to be enjoyed, all things in moderation to prevent cravings. Eat your pasta and meat and go lighter the next night.

I did the Somersize diet about 4 years ago. I got down to 135 lbs. from about 155 lbs. The diet worked great... until I started eating "real" food again. If you switch to Somersize, it's not a diet to lose weight, it's a lifestyle change. I couldn't do it and eventually ballooned up to 175 lbs. (Not to mention my cholesterol sky rocketed, and my blood pressure was not good at all.)

I just recently found another diet, on-line, www.AnneCollins.com . It's wonderful, I can eat bread (whole grain, of course), pasta, fruit, as much veg. as I want, lean protein.... etc. She has different diets for different dietary needs. She has a 4 week diet plan to "lose" weight. You can keep doing that until you get to your goal weight. Then she has the "Diet for Life." Which really isn't a diet at all, it's just a menu plan to keep you on track of eating healthy and to try to keep you from going back to old bad habits. She has lists of substituions in case there's something you don't like. There's also a list of fast food options, but she HIGHLY DISCOURAGES any fast food. I do exercise 5 days a week, on an eliptical trainer. I burn an minimum of 300 calories a day on that. After a 6 weeks, I'm now up to 400 calories. I started out at 175 lbs. on March 5th, as of today, I weigh 158.5. I feel great, never deprived of the food I like, and I can play with the kids and dog a lot longer than I could before!!
I hate dieting and I hate exercise, but this plan is actually "do-able."
Good Luck to you. I hope you find something that works for you.

Hi There,

I actually did do the program. I stayed on it for 3 months and only lost 5 pounds. I get very frustrated if I don't see good results after 3 months. So I'm now looking for something that will help me lose and show faster results. I don't want the fast fix. However, I do need to lose weight because I hate how I look.

Good luck to you,

Pamela

I did this diet back in 2001. I lost 7 pounds in about a month or so. I really believe in it but it's hard to do in "real life". Hard not to mix carbs and proteins. But to this day I still don't mix fruit and food as it tears my tummy up just like Suzanne's. Good luck

Hi M.,

My name is C. and I am a Nutritionist as well as a Personal Trainer. I have done many figure competitions as well as help many do them too. The reason I say this is to let you know my back ground. I have many before and after pictures on my website that you can look at. http://funtobefit.com

The key to fat loss is keeping your blood sugar level. This may sound difficult, but it's not. To keep your blood sugar level you NEED to eat a lean source of protein every 3 hours along with a carbohydrate. an example for lunch would be: 4-6 oz of Chicken breast, fish, or turkey breast and 1 cup broccoli, green beans, mixed veggies and 1/4-1/2 cup cooked rice, 1/2 sweet potato, 3/4 cooked pasta.

Does this make sense? It is much easier to explain when speaking for sure. By the way you could do a sandwich for lunch too just be sure to eat veggies as your side dish. :)

I have added an amazing system into my programs that have helped my clients get quick results that jump start their fat loss. here is my website for that and you will also see a link for it on my website above if you choose to click around there. http://funtobefit.isagenix.com
With this program I coach you for free.

i personally over analyze and stress when i am programs like that. what i try to do is make sure i have 50-70 % vegetables and a little bit of fruit in my diet everyday. these are the foods are body utilizes the most and if we are eating what are body readily uses, then there is nothing left for it to store up =) fruit/yogurt/nuts or veggie omelet for breakfast; heavy veggie sandwich or wrap for lunch; huge salad with a little bit of something else for dinner; almonds/carrots/apples/bananas/carrot juice for snacks. it feels sooooo good. =) sundays are cheat days - indulge =)

Hi M.,

I lost a lot of weight with Somersize - 30lbs in about 1 1/2 months. I have all the books and cd's. My husband even lost weight too. I did have a hard time at first on level one because I love carb's! Eating small meals every 2-3 hours helped keep my blood sugars up and it can speed your metabolism up too. It got better, I promise! To curve my sugar cravings, I would start out every morning with an all fruit smoothie I would get tropical fun fruit from Plow Boys or Costco, like mango, papaya, pineapple, strawberry and put it in the blender with a little fresh juice or water. When I couldn't find it fresh, I would get it frozen and Costco has a big selection of frozen fruit. Then I would eat proteins/veggies the rest of the day. I soon started incorporating small portions of healthy carb's, like high fiber cereal and breads and pasta. I like the "Dream" brand of whole wheat pasta.

The basic thing is eating healthy, using moderation and incorporate some excersize! Try to get in at least 30 minutes of fun exercise a day...at the very least 3 times a week.

Try to stay away from anything with Aspartame (nutrasweet/equal) though, it is in a lot of sugar-free foods and has been known to cause gradual and eventually severe damage to the neurological system, immune system and causes permanent genetic damage at extremely low doses. Check out this site: http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartame/embalm.html

Let me know if you want to chat and I'll give you all the tips that helped me out.

A little about me:

I'm a SAHM with 2 small children. I used to own and operated 2 Curves for Women franchises and I love helping people reach their goals and I think I've read or tried almost every popular diet out there!

You can do it!

I was on the Somersize diet for about 7 months. I lost about 20 pounds which was a lot considering I'm only 5 feet. The great thing was that I lost more inches than pounds, I mean I got back down to the weight I was in high school, but I was able to fit into size 2 clothes, which I could never fit into before. I really felt good, too. I ate more vegetables and fruits than I normally did and felt healthy. I think it's actually a good diet, but it's hard to stay on it forever. It really needs to be a change of eating, not just a diet. It also required a lot of cooking. She did have a lot of good recipes in her book. But when I got pregnant, I went off of it and after having the baby hardly had time to cook anymore. I have gained back the weight and keep telling myself I'll get back on the plan, but haven't figured out how to find time to do the cooking. If you do decide to do it, you should go to her website for encouragement and to share recipes, ideas with others who are doing the same program. When I was doing it, I found it very helpful to go there regularly to keep me motivated. It really helped to feel like a part of a community. Good Luck!
