I bought a box of boys clothes on CL. I looked through a few of them and they were all as described. in good used condition. As soon as I got home and got a little further down in the box I noticed that most of the shirts have some sort of grease stain on them. These are stains I am all too frustratingly familiar with but I sure wouldn't have spent what I spent on them had I seen these stains. What to do? What should I try?? I'd at least like to see if I can make them budge.

Shout always got out any grease stains I've come across. Even if they'd been washed and dried already.
My mom swears by Original Dawn (the blue stuff) dish soap.
i get out old grease stains by reactivating the grease then using dawn dish soap to wash it away. this is how I was told to get rid of grease stains: 1- spray WD40 (with the straigt nozzle attachment) right onto the stain. Make sure you have a towel between the clothing layers or it will soak through. 2- soak the stain with dawn.
I have had good luck with Oxy Clean Laundry Spray. Spray it on and let it sit then wash the clothes. Always check before putting it in the dryer to see if the stain has come out. Wash it again if needed before drying it.
If it truly is oil/grease then try a little Dawn liquid dish soap. Just rub it in the spot before washing.
I've actually used Dawn dishwashing liquid soap. I just put a dollop on the stain, rub it in with my finger and throw it in the regular wash.

Formula 409 works great. It's a degreaser and I've never had a problem with it. Also works great for getting dog smudges off of glass doors.
Try K2R. It works miracles! You might have to find at a hardware store though. I think Ace has it.
the only thing thats ever worked for me with an old set in stain is sudsy ammonia. Hanging them in the bright sun also bleaches clothes, combine the two, maybe.. works for the yellow sweat/ anti perspirant stains that come out in whites
what a bummer! I have had great luck using Dawn dish soap on this kind of spot as well. Give it a shot!
If after using Dawn soap the stains are still there, try Goof Off.
We rent to college kids who like to put sticky tape on the wall, leave grease stains on everything, etc. Goof Off always works.
I have used it on my husband's clothing after he finishes working on cars. It works.
Use it outside and rinse the chemical off several times after the stain is removed.
There is a product out there called Motsenbocker Lift Off. It stinks to high heaven, but it will get out set-in grease stains. There are several different kinds for different kinds of stains, so make sure you get the one for grease. Good luck!
