With the economy being what it is, I too was looking for something I could do from home to bring in extra money. I was lucky enough to find a reputable company that required very minimal investment and all that is required is phone and internet. Please feel free to visit my website. If after reviewing this, you think it might be for you, please feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to talk with you directly.

I saw a good bit on 20/20 the other night about work at home jobs. There are a lot of scams so be careful. There is an online watchdog group out there that provides information on the scams but I don't recall the website. Go to http://abcnews.go.com/2020 and see if you can watch the segment from Fri. night. I see they have a part 1 and a part 2 and the website but I'm not sure if it's the whole episode or not. Long story short - there are some legit work at home gigs but many are not. Do your homework before sending any money for "kits", etc.. check with the BBB and always remember if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

I have a few friends that do Juice Plus, Arbonne, Monavie.. etc.. some are donig well, some just do it to get a discount.

Best wishes,
M.

Hi C.,
I've talked to other moms about this in the past so this is my take. My high school friend's mom did REALLY well with Shaklee because she was one of the first to cater/exploit the spanish speaking wave. (This was years ago). Unless there are exceptional circumstances like that I think MLM and Pyramid schemes are called schemes for a reason. You best resorce is yourself -- your teaching credential. Check out the tutoring available in your area and undercut them to compensate for the baby being there. Don't forget the homeschool market and you can schedule at will. Now that I think about it the "teachers" at the charter school (homeschooling) for my son were both moms of new babies. Look into CAVA and Skymountain and Eagle's Peak.

A lot of "work from home" plans are actually going to be in network marketing. Find out about it at www.dsa.org the Direct Selling Association's website. You can make a great income if you are motivated, like people & are willing to learn. You are basically recommending products to people you know so you have to actually like & use the products you represent. Here's an article about network marketing:
http://wnyt.com/article/stories/S729809.shtml

You do not have to "have parties" to be successful at this. You can work with people one-on-one. It is just as effective if you put the time in (5-10 hours a week). But at the end of the day, it is sales no matter what companies promise about "no selling".

There are websites that claim you can work from home processing medical bills, stuffing envelopes, etc. They usually want you to pay them a fee for hooking you up with the actual employer or for training. There's no guarantee you'll get work. I would be cautious of these at this time especially. The job market is very difficult right now even for high qualified people.

Hi C., Yes it is possible, I have always been a SAHM, but when my husband retired from the Navy things got a little tight, actually got really tight, he got a job but it didn't pay like the Navy paid him, I looked into different things, Tupperware, Home Inteariers, Herbalife, nonme of it panned out for me, so I started my own Home Daycare, I have been in business for almost 12 years, when I stared my all 3 od my kids were in elementry school. they are all grown now and i'm still a SAHM, my 22 year old son is here at home as well as my 19 year old daughter who goes to a community college, it has worked for me, it has it's pros and cons like everything else, but for me it was well worth it, I charge 120.00 a week when my daycare is full I make 1,920.00 a month plus I get a Child Nutrition check every month to cover cost of feeding the children, you can charge more than 120.00 depending on the area you live in, but what I do is i stay right under the compitition but also is worth what i have to offer. and I offer a lot. If you want more info, you can e-mail me at ____@____.com or you can reach me here at mamasource. I love what I do. J. L.

Hi C., I am earning income with Scentsy wickless candles. I came across Scentsy at a craft show over Christmas and fell in love with them. I watch the table at the craft show for a few minutes and saw how people just loved these candles, so I decided to sign up to become a consultant, and I am so glad I did!
I help out at my daughters school, when I showed the teachers and staff Scentsy they were really excited about it. Many of the teachers have it in their classrooms now. It is safe for the kids because there is no frame and the wax never gets hot enough to burn, and it makes thier classrooms smell great. So with your involvement in the school, you would already have a great customer base.
The income has been great for me. I have only been with Scentsy sence Dec. and have already promted to lead consultant. You can check Scentsy out at my website, and email me if you have any questions. Also I am offering incentives this month for joining my team. Hope to hear from you!

C.,
I tried different direct marketing programs and really did not have a good strategy for making money. For the last 2 and 1/2 years I have been doing Mary Kay and have been able to make money. What I like about being a Mary Kay Consultant is that I have a lot of other women who have been in the business for several years and they help show us the way. I love that part of it but I got into the business because I like the product enough to believe in it and earn 50% of the sales no matter what level I am at or how much I sold. Anyway the point of me telling you all this is because I do believe you can make money and stay at home but you will have to believe in yourself as well as whatever you choose. If, you have a little interest in what I do you can go to my website on your own without hearing a peep from me unless you want to hear from me:)

Good luck and I know all the rest of us mommy's believe in you!!!!!

Besides "sales" type things & having those product parties... which I don't prefer personally,
these are some options:
(1) If you like to write, try this for being a 'writer' and earning income:
www.ehow.com
www.helium.com
www.associatedcontent.com

(2) http://beaguide.about.com/
if you can become a "Guide" on About.com, there are some good earnings. It is a 'job' and quite respectable.

(3) Have a t-shirt store:
via www.cafepress.com I have a shop already www.cafepress.com/littlegoogoo via Cafe Press, where I make my own designs and it's real low maintenance. I do make good monthly earnings... but not millions. I enjoy it a lot, and like anything, you do have to work at marketing yourself too.

(4) Sell things via Ebay.

(5) Babysit in your home. (I have done this so that I could stay home when I had my daughter), and you can make good stable monthly income this way. I just baby-sat 1 or 2 other children, besides my own. And, I made a good amount every month. But research it, and see if this is something you would like to do. It does take energy taking care of more than 1 child in your home. BUT, since you are the babysitter, YOU can make your hours or schedule or rules. Some woman, just do "drop-in" care as well... for only 2-3 hours per day, and charge hourly... thereby, having the rest of the day 'free' to themselves and with their own baby. Or, some woman just do baby-sitting at night time... for those who work nights, or just want to go out as adults. This is a viable option as well. You get your 'clients' and then screen them, and hand-pick who you want to babysit for, and then this can become reliable income too. But you have to be flexible and 'want' to do it, in addition to your own child... thus, juggling tasks.

The writing venues are the one's which I have looked into myself....and am working towards currently... I am in the process of writing articles now and compiling it. I just haven't had much undisturbed time to fully thrust myself into it yet. But it is very appealing and workable if you put time into it, like any other 'job' from home. So that is what my goal is.

I hope this helps... and I really wish you the best of luck. As most Moms, we really would like to stay home with our children if possible.

All the best to you,
Susan

C.,

Have you ever thought about tapping into your own talents which is teaching and starting a tutoring website or even private tutoring for kids after school in you home? Sometimes we look for other venues and we forget about looking in our own back yard for talents we already have and yours is teaching. Hope this helps.

It is possible to stay home and make money. To be able to start your very own home business for less than $30 is worth taking a look. I stay home with my 4 kids ages 5 and under. I've teamed up with a wellness company. They've been in business for over 23 years and they've been helping families escape the financial rat race. If you feel you have between 5 and 15 hours a week to work a business, then you can make money. It's tough raising a family in this day and age. I was tired of scraping by; I was tired of saying "no" to everything. Now I don't have to. I'm not saying I make millions but I do earn a decent amount. If you are serious then please check out my website www.familiesrok.synthasite.com then request information, I'll call you and we can set up a 30 minute appointment.
