Hi, I need a few old windows replaced in our condo in Lakeview. Can anyone recommend a company that isn't too expensive but still does quality work? thanks!

We recently got basic Pella vinyl windows through Lowes. They were about the same price as the non-name-brand vinyls a local contractor quoted us last year. Also, another specialty window place I called wasn't really interested in our small job (only 3 windows) and recommended we go to Lowes. I was surprised that they also sell wooden windows and have a pretty decent selection.

I didn't realize until after we bought them that Energy Star windows can be deducted on your taxes (I think it's up to $500 or so.) So make sure whoever you use can provide a receipt/brochure that has the Energy Star logo on it.

About five years ago we used a company to repair our double-hung windows with a pulley system in a 1890's condo in Evanston. The work was amazing! Stripped lead paint and about 15 layers of paint, repainted, repaired, the works.

Try Parkside windows. I just ordered windows from them that were significantly less expensive than other window companies. My windows should be installed on Monday is the weather warms up a little.

Hi L.,
We replaced all the windows in our 2 flat recently. We used a company called Thermalcraft out of Villa Park. Sales guy there is Barry. I met with about 10 different window companies and felt this one was the best. It wasn't the cheapest but wasn't the most expensive either. Hope this helps.
