My hubbie and I are in desperate need for a weekend getaway and have this idea to make a short hop down to San Antonio and visit sea world with our 2 year old son. Can anyone make a recommendation on where to stay that is super nice (spa, gym and all the amenities one would ever need) and convenient to local attractions etc; I have never been there, nor my husband and also we would love to have other recommendations on what we could do on our mini-vacation.

We stayed at the Hotel Contessa. It was brand new last year and absolutely gorgeous. They have a gym and a pool on the roof. The suites have a sitting area seperate from the bedrooms. It is also right on the riverwalk. Very nice. Her e is the website. http://www.thehotelcontessa.com

My family just did a San Antonio mini vacation. We stayed at Westin La Cantera. It is right next to Fiesta Texas and the Shops at La Cantera. It was so wonderful. You'll feel pampered. They are very kid friendly, and had a goodie bag for the kids. They have many little lagoon pools with drink service to the pool. There is a lawn that they were showing animated movies on at night. In fact, we almost cancelled our Sea World plans just to hang out at the resort. We went to Sea World though and had a lot of fun there too. I was just emailed a special at the La Cantera. For $199/night, they give you a room and 50% off Fiesta Texas theme park tickets. The promotion code was: RADIO. Have a great weekend.

The Drury Inn is really nice and we found it very affordable with our children. It is right on the water but a little away from the nighttime activities. Close enough to any direction you want to go. Also, they serve a really nice breakfast. Have fun it is a neat place to visit.

Hey K.! We went to San Antonio last year, and we stayed the Marriot River Center. We were about 2 blocks from the Alamo, and we could ride the elevator down to the River Center which is on the River Walk. We went to Sea World on day, and it was about a 5 to 10 min drive. I would recommend the hotel, it was super nice!! Hope this helps!

My family & I love the Hyatt Hill Country. It has a lazy river that my children spend most of their time on. Don't forget to make smores at night. The kids love roasting the marshmallows and then jumping in the water to get all the sticky stuff off. It's a wonderful hotel/resort and it's across the street from Sea World. The Raddison is right down the street and I believe they have a free shuttle that goes to Sea World and picks you up too. This is nice because you don't have to pay for parking and you bypass all the traffic trying to get into the park. Check out Sea World's web site...they usually have a buy a one day pass and you get a second day pass for free. We usually go to the park the first day and the water park inside Sea World the second day. Have fun!!!

If you are wanting to stay right by the park, there are only 2 really nice options, the Radisson Hill country, www.radisson.com, and they Hyatt Hill counrty resort and spa, www.hyatt.com. The hyatt is almost double the cost of the Radisson, but has a golf course. The Radisson has a great kids pool, kids activites, and really cool fire pits in an outdoor courtyard where you can do smores and stuff. They also offer a free shuttle over to the park, which is only 3 min away. (parking at sea world is $7) We've stayed at the radisson 4 years in a row, just staying there 2 weeks ago, and are going back over July 4 weekend. It's a great hotel. We've been wanting to try the Hyatt, b/c it looks just as nice, with the addition of a lazy river for the kids with the pools, but with double the cost and no free shuttle, just cant justify the cost. Good luck!

Stay at the Westin La Cantera Resort!!!! It is awesome! We go every year to S.A. and love it. They are affiliated with Fiesta Texas, so you get some discounts when you book a Fiesta TX package, and you can take a shuttle from the hotel to the park. (Radisson is affiliated with Sea World, but not nearly as nice, or beautiful - and about the same price.) Westin has awesome rooms, swimming pools, grounds, spa, restaurants and golf. Everything is close by in that area (right off 410), and it takes about 20 minutes to get to the Riverwalk.

Hope you have fun!

I just returned from San Antonio. We stayed at the Hyatt Riverwalk location and it was super nice. Right on the riverwalk, across the street from the Alamo, and it's close to a lot of other attractions. There is also another Hyatt really close to Sea World. Hyatt Resort (I think is its tag name). Sea World is about 15-20 minutes from downtown, where all of San Antonio's other attractions are. Better for the kiddos because downtown consists of major walking.

Hyatt Hill Country is awesome! It is very close to Sea World. There are so many things to do around the property that you don't even have to leave. There is a lazy river that winds around into the pool. There is a spa there that was nice too. Lots of fun there!
