Seeking the Best Vacuum Cleaner

Calling all domestic goddesses. I hate my vacuum cleaner. Does anyone have a vacuum cleaner that they LOVE and would recommend highly? Am ready to make an investment in something expensive if I have to. I vacuum and vacuum, and it still doesn't look like I have done anything (and yes, I have changed the bag). Thanks everyone!

What can I do next?

I LOVE my Kenmore canister. Some people don't like the canister type but I love it. It's what I've always had since being married. My mom has the regular kind so I've had lots of experience with that one, too. Also, I've cleaned a few houses in which I used their regular vacuums and I always say to myself how much I love my canister after using the other ones. Its great because you don't have to lug around the whole vacuum and it works great on any surface: carpet, berber, tile, rugs, etc.
One side note, it don't weigh as much which is great because it doesn't cause strain on my lower back. (sometimes I have back pain in that area)

I have a dirt devil bagless, which I love. I had the same problem with it about a year after I bought it. After investigating I learned that the belt was stretched out (versus broken). Resulting in cylander not turning while I had it on the ground. Once I replaced it, GOOD AS NEW! So you might consider trying that...or getting a Dirt Devil!

I have a Dyson, and their commercial do it justice! I have owned it for almost 2 years and have never had a problem out of it. It is an investment, but one I highly recommend.

I have a Riccar vaccuum which I just love. I got it when we had a Golden Retriever, and it picked up her hair quite easily. I think it was in the $300-$400 range about 5 years ago. /J.

Buy an ORECK!! You will NOT be disappointed. They are expensive, ($350 and up depending on the model you choose) but you will never have to buy another one. My mom has had hers for 30 years and it still works great. The vacuum is only 8 lbs, so it is verrry easy to handle, carry upstairs, etc. Also, you don't have to do any adjusting to go from carpet to tile -- it handles both exceptionally well. I think they are only available at an Oreck store - I bought mine at the Oreck store just outside of Collin Creek Mall in Plano (NE corner of Plano Parkway & Alma). I believe they are available at JCPenney, too. Unfortunately, you can't buy them at Target, Sams Club, etc. I am a domestic goddess, and I'm so glad I bought my Oreck!!

Hi Stephani- ORECK ORECK ORECK! The customer service and follow up care is great. The vacuums are lightweight and last forever! The closest store for you is near Target/Marshalls on Towneast in Mesquite. I'm just a vacuuming fool! ~ Val
