I'm looking for a recipe to take to Thanksgiving Dinner this Thursday, I've never brought anything to the table other than rolls or chips and this year I want something fun and tasty, I'm not a very good cook but I'm willing to try anything, I need to step out of my comfort zone and try doing something different. I'd appreciate your favorite dish, whether its simple or complicated or if you have an Idea but no recipe, I'd still appreciate it, I can try looking up your Idea on the internet, I just don’t know where to begin. I don’t mind if it’s a part of the dinner or a desert.
Thanks.

I made Thanksgiving dinner for the first time last year. I made garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing, candied yams, etc. I got all of my recipes from www.allrecipes.com. There are a million ideas, and they have a section just for Thanksgiving. I use the site all year round to make new and varied dishes for dinners!

I'll share with you (and others!) the best appetizer:
Artichoke Dip.

Drain one can of artichoke and chop.
Mix together 1 C. mayo (the real stuff), about 4 oz. fresh parmesan cheese and 3-4 cloves of fresh garlic, chopped finely. Mix in artichokes and place in 2 small baking dishes and sprinkle with paprika. Bake at 350 for about 20 or 25 minutes, until bubbly. Serve with toasted bread, bagel chips, veggies. Really, it is darn good.

Hi J.,
If you want I have a great appetizer recipe. Smoky Bacon Cheddar Cheese ball. 2 packs of cram cheese, 4 thick slices of smoked bacon x-crisp, 2 cups shredded sharp cheedar cheese,1/2 cup sliced almonds.
Chop Bacon into tiny bits, combine all the ingredients, except the almonds, form into a ball then roll in the almonds. Refrigerate overnite and serve with crackers to spread on to.
This cheese ball is my own recipe my family loves it. Happy turkey day, A. V.

Mix butter and cream cheese, then the egg and then a little bit at a time of the chocolate cake mix. The batter will get REALLY stiff. Put in frig for 2 hours then take it out.

Roll into small balls and put on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350

I know you shouldn't eat raw eggs but I love to eat the dough.
The cookies are good too.

Well I'm a very picky eater so for Thanksgiving all I like is turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn and rolls! BUT, what about green bean caserole? I've heard it's easy, and people seem to like it. Here is a link to a recipe on Campbells.com! http://www.campbellkitchen.com/recipedetail.aspx?recipeID...

Cranberry Sauce

1 12 oz-bag cranberries
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup sugar
1 cup orange juice
zest of one orange

Wash and pick over the cranberries tossing out stems and soft berries. Place all ingredients except vanilla in a heavy saucepan and cook until the cranberries come to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until cranberries burst and begin to gel, about 20-30 minutes, stirring as needed to prevent sticking. Add the vanilla and let cool. Refrigerate overnight.

I made this several years ago for Thanksgiving and it's been requested that I bring it every year since. Great on the turkey and leftover turkey sandwiches and even pork.

I am not much of a cook myself, I tend to burn everything. But I brought this salad and it was a hit! Plus it envolves no cooking, woo hoo! It's a brocolli/cauliflour salad. Just cut 1 bunch of brocolli and 1 bunch of cauliflour in a big bowl. Add craisans, any kind of nut you want (almonds, pecans, etc.), bacon bits, and some shredded cheese (I think the white mozzerella looks pretty with the craisens, more holiday like). Just before serving add this yummy, sweet sauce Mix 1 C. of mayo (or if you want less fattening 1 C. of Plain fat-free yogurt), 1/2 C. sugar, and 2 Tbsp. of Apple Cider Vinger. Pour over salad and stir. This is delicious! I was asked to bring it to another gathering and asked by other people for the recipe. I just love it cause you can alter some of the ingredients to your liking. It's fun and tasty! Good luck! I'm sure you'll do great no matter what you take. Have a Super Thanksgiving!

This one is my favorites!!! It's a family recipe - a little time consuming but easy.

Red Hot Cinnamon Apples (not really spicy at all)
5 lbs apples peeled and sliced
1 cup hot water
1 pkg red hots

cook apples (put in a pot with about 1-1 1/2 c water for about 20 minutes)

while cooking the apples (or while you're peeling and slicing the 5 lbs of apples) add the pkg of red hots to the cup of water and stir regularly, disolving the red hots

when apples are done cooking (you want them soft, but not mushy) add the red hot mixture (no need to drain the cooked apples before doing this)

Let cool then refrigerate.

Can be served right away but best if you let them marinade for a day or 2 in the refrigerator before serving.

Hope this helps

If you looking for something interesting, why not try frog-eyed salad. Go down the pasta isle at the supermarket & look for a 1 lb box of Acini Di Pepe. The recipe is on the back of the box. I use the recipe on the back, but add to it, 1 Tablespoon orange juice, to the items cooking in the pan & a small can of mandarine oranges.. when the fruit cocktail is added in the recipe. Also, don't use white marshmallows, use the multi-colored kind. It's a hit with my kids!
If you want to wow your family, another idea is homemade chips & dip. Using Autumn or Thanksgiving cookie cutters, cut out shapes from soft flour tortillas. (Push really hard because tortillas are a lot harder to cut than cookie dough!) Brown shapes on both sides, in a large frying pan, with cooking oil. Put shapes on paper towels to drain greese. I do the ranch/salsa dip or the cream cheese/salsa dip. Good luck!

Hi J.,
This Carmel-Apple Pie recipe is a favorite for our Thansgiving dinner. And, if you don't feel comfortable making your own pie crust you can substitute a pre-made one instead. Have fun making it and Happy Thanksgiving.

Caramel-Apple Pie

Makes 10 servings

Prep: 35 minutes
Bake: 55 minutes

Ingredients
1 recipe Piecrust (see recipe below)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 cups peeled and coarsely chopped Jonathan apples
1/2 cup caramel-apple dip
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter

Directions
1. Prepare Piecrust. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough from center to edge into a 12-inch circle. Wrap pastry around a rolling pin. Unroll into a 9-inch pie plate. Ease pastry into pie plate. Trim to 1/2 inch beyond edge of plate. Fold under pastry; crimp. Don't prick pastry.

2. For filling, in a large bowl, combine granulated sugar, the 1/4 cup flour, and the cinnamon. Add the apples and toss to coat. Transfer to pastry-lined pie plate. Combine 2 tablespoons of the caramel-apple dip and the milk; drizzle over apples.

3. In a mixing bowl, combine the 1 cup flour and the brown sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over filling. Cover edge of pie with foil to prevent overbrowning. Place on a baking sheet.

4. Bake in a 350 degree F oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes more or until golden. Cool 10 minutes. Drizzle remaining caramel dip over top. Cool pie on a wire rack. Makes 10 servings.

Piecrust: In a medium bowl, cut 1/3 cup butter into 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour with a pastry blender until pieces are the size of peas. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon milk over part of the mixture; gently toss with a fork. Repeat moistening the dough, using 3 tablespoons more milk (1 tablespoon at a time), until all the dough is moistened. Shape into a ball.

Hi J.

If your doing a Turkey, the thing I recommend is use turkey size cooking bags, there is a recipe booklet in the box. Usually, I think it said to baste it with oil, add some veggies (onion, celery, carrots), I never had it come out dry this way. There is also a couple of other recipes, if you want.
