Seeking Summer Day Camp Options in Irving and Mid-Cities Area for 4.5 Year Old

Our granddaughter's birthday is September 7, so she'll be entering pre-K this year just before her 5th birthday. We have babysit her since her mother returned to work when she was about six months.

Our daughter is expecting a new daughter any day now and will be home with both kids until June. We will care for both kids then; however, the older will be in school in late August.

What summer day camps are available for pre-school kids in the Mid-Cities and Irving area?

When our kids were young, they went to a day care that turned into a summer camp in the summer with 2 week sessions that included swimming, taking care of small farm animals, planting a small pumpkin patch, sports, hiking that were age appropriate for the groups. The day care was just down the street from us, but in the summer, all but the youngest kids were bussed out to the owner's farm/summer camp for the day. Every two week session ended with a sleep-over for the older kids. The day care also included a program for the older kids, since many of the kids were in day care and camp with them every week for years, that allowed them at age 12 or so to become junior camp counselor, so they could help the counselors and also get experience to become camp counselors when they were old enough.

Anyway, I'd like to find something inexpensive or even free which offers a variety of activities and fosters social skills.

What can I do next?

my sister in law drives her kids all over her town to different vacation bible schools. she'll do one one week and then another another week etc. i think they're all free too! it's not something i would do unless we go to church there but they do it at churches where they know people. just a thought. good luck.

Check out the Summer Camp guide in www.momsoutloud.com - they list them by city. =)

Also North Texas kids magazine has a Summer Camp Guide in their March, April, May, June & July issues. Go to www.northtexaskids.com to view issues online or pick it up anywhere moms are sitting and waiting (preschools, pediatricians, etc)

Adventure Team Outreach - Owner just had a baby, so not sure if she is doing it this year, probably will though.

Google "adventure team outreach grapevine, tx" and it will pull it up.
