I am currently seeking a new church. We moved to the area a year ago and I still have yet to find a place that feels like "home". I am looking for an awesome church in the Macomb area where we can worship freely and hear from the word of God. I am also looking for a place that has a good childerns ministry as well. I grew up attending Cornerstone Church in Highland, Mi - it's an awesome church and am looking for another one like it.

My church is Immanuel Lutheran on 21 and Romeo Plank. When I first started going, there, it felt very comfortable and "homey" Everyone is very friendly. It is a big church with a lot to do and a lot for kids. Service styles vary, so there's something for everyone, traditional, and very contemporary. There are family events all the time, Sunday School and Bible study for ALL ages, including babies. Please send me a personal message if you have any specific questions about what they offer, or times, etc.
God Bless, and I hope you find what you are looking for!

I vote for Kensington - we were at another church for 20+ years when God called us to move to Kensington a couple years ago; it was hard to leave the old church, but God has SO provided!!!! The teachings are awesome - it feels like when I was back in college involved with Campus Crusade for Christ and soaking in all that Jesus had to offer me.

You might consider... Rockpointe Community Church in Sterling Heights.. you can look it up online.

We really liked the worship services, but it's too far from us.
By spirit filled do you mean Pentecostal or Charismatic in worship? I have a friend that attends one as well that's Pent. I can check with her.

P.S. Most of the churches recommended are larger churches and I'm not sure if they are what you mean by 'spirit' filled.

We really love our church.. it's casual and smaller and very friendly. It's called Epic Church and meets at Hart Middle School in Rochester. www.epicwired.com

If you'd like to attend, we'd love to see you there.

I'm not sure if you've tried Kensington Community Church yet, but they have several locations, one of which is at M-59 & Gratiot. They are non-denominational and have a great kids' program called Treasure Island, which my son attends. Here is their website: www.KensingtonChurch.org It's really hard to put into words how great their services are- you should try one out!

Hi S.,

I know of two. I will suggest trying out both. Churches are not one size fits all.

There is one called Grace Christian Church. (on Van Dyke at 14 Mile Rd. in the Walmart shopping center)

Grace is a spirit filled church and has an awesome pastor. His word is always fresh, anointed and usually filled with some humor. The music is quite lively as well. You will leave feeling up lifted and encouraged both spiritually and mentally. You will feel re-charged for the week ahead. Their children's ministry is awesome as well. This church has grown 100% percent in the last year. I think that speaks for it's self.

The other church is Bethesda Christian Church. They are located at the corner of (Metropolitan/16Mile Rd. and Schoenherr) This is a very large church, spirit filled as well. They are a long established church with a history of great/strong leadership. They been around over 70 yrs. with only three changes in leadership. This provides a real sense of security for any church family. They have a very large children's ministry there for all ages too.

Both of these churches will take you deeper into the word and your walk with the Lord. Coming from the church you are from, I know some depth in the word is important to you.

If you are interested, the two churches have joined their schools togetherer called Parkway Christian School. (and pre-school) The school location is in the Bethesda Bldg.

One thing very important...as you already know...you need to find a place where your family feels like the church is their family too. This requires a church that has many things available to you. Both of these churches have multiple activities going on all the time to help make you feel right at home.

There are some differences in their beliefs. Only you can determine what fits and that requires a visit or two. :) If you would prefer to email me directly for a little insight to the difference, please feel free.

Good luck and God Bless,

C.

Hi S.,

You might want to try Kensington Church. They have a campus in Clinton Twp. I attend in Troy and they are amazing! Great messages that relate to life today, amazing music (guitars, drums etc.) and wonderful programs for children. My kids love to go! I had not attended church regularly in years and attended a service at Kensington 2 years ago, now I don't miss a week unless we are out of town. They are in the process of changing their website, so there is not much information on it right now, but I have included it below alsog with their address.

If you go one week, I know you would love it!

S., I go to Immanuel Lutheran at 21 mile and Romeo Plank. I have been at this church for about 15 years now. My kids (who are 3 and 7) love going to this church. Every one is friendly, they have great bible classes for adults and kids, and their VBS program is great. My daughter can't wait for VBS during the summer. There is four different services on the weekend. One on Saturday night, three on Sunday morning, and one Monday night. During the summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day our 930 service is outside! I hope this helps.

S.,

I see that you already have a suggestion for Kensington Community Church, but I second it! We have been going there for over 5 years and found it while looking for a great church for my then 3 and 5 year olds. The children's ministry is awesome! My two boys would ask when we could go back to church! Every week they earn great things. They do a great job of bringing the messages to their level so that it sinks in.

The services for adults really hit home too and I love their mission of L3 - Live, Lock, Love.

I live in Macomb County but actually go the the 19 mile and John R location because it's closer for me. Either location will be great!

Hi S.,

I have attended Genesis the Church in Berkley for almost 5 years. I'm not sure where in Macomb county you live and if it would be too far, but you can listen to sermons online if you go to www.genesisthechurch.org to see if it resonates with you. Genesis is a great church that focuses on God's word and they also have a wonderful children's ministry ( I have 3 kids elementary aged and preschool) I have listened to the pastor of Cornerstone on WMUZ and he is great, I'm sure you do miss it.

Blessings,
A. B.

Hi S.,
I attend Woodside Bible Church with my husband and 1 1/2 yr old son. We have been attending there for the last 11 years and absolutely love it. They have a wonderful children's program and the pastor speaks inspirational messages from the Bible. It is located off of Rochester Rd, just south of M59. Maybe give it a try?!? There is a website, if you are interested, www.woodsidebible.org. Good luck! A.:)
