Seeking Small Sized Pull-ups

I am trying to pottry train my 2 year old. He only weighs about 22 pounds and is quite slim. All of the 2T-3T pull ups are too big so he has accidents. Does anyone know if there is a brand of pull-ups that comes in a size that is smaller than 2T-3t?

What can I do next?

I potty trained when my son was 2 1/2. I just decided that we weren't going to do diapers at all and I went straight to underpants. A pull up is just a glorified diaper if you really think about it. It truly doesn't teach them much except that they can pull it up and down. Yes I had a lot of accidents and some cleaning but in the end it was well worth it. We had him in underpants through the night about a week after I started.

Good Luck

Hi. Reading your question, I had to laugh a little because I experienced the same thing w/ my daughter. I've been racking my brain trying to remember what we ended up using, and I think we used Pampers cruisers. They are essentially diapers but w/ tear away sides and can be pulled up and down. They're less bulky and fit more like pull-ups. I know for certain it was Pampers--and I'm thinking they were called Cruisers. My daughter is nearly four now...by the way, she just now weighs 30 lbs, so the challenge will likely continue for you w/ clothing!

I have a very slim hipped 2 year old also. I've found that the Easy Ups (more like diapers, but pull up style) fit a little better on him. Other than that, I'd suggest using the 2T pull ups and putting plastic pants over them. That might at least cut down on leakage.

Hope this helps.

You might want to try emailing like pampers and seeing if they sell another size because I had a friend a few years back that had a very small child in a special needs class and she had emailed I think pampers and they helped her get some smaller sizes. Sometimes you have to order stuff like that if stores don't have a demand for it they don't stock it. Also I'd see if some of the pharmacies near the hospitals sock smaller sizes or can order a smaller size pull up for you. Best of luck if I hear of anything will let you know.

My son is 25lbs at 2 1/2. We were using Huggies 2T pull-ups, but they were a little big. He had to borrow another child's pull-up at school one day, and it fit really well. It was from Walmart (their store brand, I think called White Cloud). I've been buying those now, and they're working very well. No problems with leaking. They're also half the price of Huggies!

I think you are rushing the whole pull-ups thing. I made that mistake with my now 4 yr old..I started buying pull-ups instead of diapers which cost more abd you get less...all I ended up doing was wasting money...their still going to have accidents in the pull-ups like their diapers and unless ur 2 yr old has shown signs of training like doing 1 or 2 in the potty then ur waisting ur money.Even with the feel and learn and the ones that have the characters that fade when wet were no help...pull-ups still feel like a diaper to them. And once they do start training real underwear help more than pull-ups.

My 19 mos old daughter has been wearing pull ups for some time now, and she is only 22lbs as well. Right now she is wearing the 2T Pampers pull-ups during the day and the Huggies night time pull-ups in the evening. But if those are really too big for your son, then Pampers make Easy Ups which come in smaller, more fitted sizes. She started using those since at 12 mos and they fit nicely. So good luck finding something that works for you and your son! Happy New Year!

My youngest daughter was also only about 22 lbs at at 2. We opted for using 18 month training underwear and matching rubber pants (walmart). it was a little harder to clean up, but still caught most the mess. I actually trained all three of mine using underwear and setting a timer to take them every 30 to 45 minutes initially. They were all fully trained by 2 1/2. When they know it feels yucky and makes a mess, they want to get it in the potty.
Best of luck. V. E

Hey K.- we went through the same thing. (Still are, actually, since my 3 year old only weighs 24 pounds!) We get Huggies Pull-ups (has to be Huggies) because they have the velcro siding. You can adjust the velcro siding like you would with a diaper. More time-consuming than just pulling them on, but it does work.

i had the reverse problem but you should just check different brands. eventhough they say 2t-3t they are cut differently. try the generic store brands, etc. I had to put my daughter in them at preschool. Although, when potty training I found going straight to big boy underwear the best. I also found that waiting til they are a little older. my son was 3 years exactly and my daughter started about three months before her 3rd birthday. i reviewed a website called www.thepottytrainer.com i think. google potty training and I am sure you will come up with the site. good luck.
