Hello I am looking to purchase a kitchen for my girls who are 2. It can be wood or plastic but needs to be able to accomodate both of them at the same time. I would like to purchase it in the next week for there birthday on Wednesday.
Thanks

My daughter, who is almost 2, lover her delux kitchen from Step 2. When she has friends over there are 4-5 kids playing with it at once with out a problem. The one thing to note, assembly is required and took my husband quite a bit of time to put it together when she got it for Christmas.

Hi E.,
I have the Kidkraft Island Kitchen in Pastel. It's great b.c it's all wood and there's 2 sides to play with while still playing together. Here's the link so you can see what it looks like http://www.kidkraft.com/catalog/53109-0059.asp.

I have had it for 2 years now and it is still in GREAT condition. Even after playdates and parties!! I did some major price shopping online to find the best deal. They also have seperate items that are wood, such as a coffee pot, blender, fruit, etc.

I LOVE IT! Good luck!

Hi E.,
I don't know how much room you have (or how much you want to spend), but Pottery Barn Kids has some wonderful separate kitchen pieces. In our playroom, we have separate kitchen pieces (cabinet, stove etc.) and it's nice because everything is spread out and there is not as much of a problem of the kids being "on top of one another". It's also nice because we can re-arrange things as we like, whenever we like.

Here's a link:

Hope you find what you're looking for!

I'm not sure if this would work for both of them but it's a decent size. We got the Fisher Price Grow with me Kitchen and my daughter just loves it. Good luck and Happy Birthday!

Honestly, we have had both a wooden and a plastic kitchen. The wood one purchased at Toys R us was a 100.00 and only lasted one year. The Dora talking kitchen is wonderful. They play with it all the time and it is plastic. It is also cheaper than the wooden one.

We have a Little Tykes kitchen and it's now 4 years old and still seems brand new. Both my 5 year old and 3 year old son still play with it. I would check out Cut Rate Toys on Devon near Central. I bought it there and saved about $20 less than Toys R Us. They usually have something in stock, but not too many options. But a great little store to save on big ticket items.

My daughter received the FisherPrice Grow With Me Kitchen for her 1st birthday. She loves it. We have had playdates, and all of the kids play fine with it. You can even order additional replacement pieces from www.fisherprice.com for VERY VERY little, so both would be able to have the utensils. They also have food you can purchase to go along with the kitchen. It's great!! We have no complaints about the kitchen! We bought it for her b-day, so she would be able to play with it for a LONG time. Toys that last long are the best!

We bought the Lifestyle Dream Kitchen by Step 2 for our 2 year old daughter & she LOVES it, and so do we. :) It is big enough for her & her two friends to play in. And she will soon be joined by her little sister. :) Step 2 has 3 different Lifestyle Kitchens...the "Dream" Kitchen is the middle-size one of the three, there is also a larger one...it's called Lifestyle Deluxe. They carry them at ToysRUs, however, we bought ours on Amazon.com, at the time, it was cheaper than TRU and had free shipping. Oh and we also bought the matching Table & Chairs set...and love those as well. :)
Anyway, here is the ToysRUs link to view it: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=231686...

Good Luck & Happy Birthday to your girls. :)

We purchased the Step 2 Custom Kitchen for our (then) 2 year old for Christmas of 2005. It wasn't too big or too small....or too expensive in the event that she didn't play with it much. Now, both of our girls (3 1/2 & 18 months) LOVE it. During playgroup, there have been as many as 4 three year olds crowded around, each "cooking" their own dish.
It's held up well, even when my younger one opens the oven door and stands on it. They tend to run around $150, but I picked one up for $100 at Walmart.

We have the Little Tikes kitchen and love it. We have had it for years. Before this one we had 3 other kitchens that were Little Tikes and loved them also. The reason we have had so many is because my girls are spread out in age and thought I was done well then here comes another little girl so we needed a kitchen. The first kitchen we had was used by a friend and she had it for 10 years and then my daughter had it and I gave it to a friend who still has it. They are durable, safe,a lot of fun for young and older kids. I would take the girls to Toys R Us and see which one they like the best. There are so many with different features.

DO NOT purchase the wooden kitchen from Target!!! It's so adorable, but basically a piece of junk. I would recommend anything plastic. We bought the cheap Walmart kitchen years ago...we still have it and it's in good condition.
Good Luck!!!
