I am currently looking for a preschool for my 4 year old son. He has not been around many other children and I would like to get him socalized in a school-like enviroment before kindergarten. I just want something that is two or three days a week for a couple of hours, and that won't break my wallet.

What can I do next?

Troy Christian Schools do have a preschool that runs through the school year--but I know they also have daycare (for children up through 6th grade) that runs all summer long. Not sure of cost, but just an option for you.

You know what I did for my DD during the summer was send her to a lot of vacation bible schools. They are normally free. They will go for 5 days. All they teach is what I refer to as 'generic' religion. You know things like God is good. They do a lot of crafts, stories and music. It sure is economical!

I don't know if you have a YMCA around you that does preschool or not. I know the one close to me has classes that go on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They also have classes that go Tuesdays and Thursdays. I know around here the one for Tuesdays and Thursdays go from 12:30-3:00. My daughter goes to that one and loves it!! She has a small class of only 9 kids and 2 teachers. She was not around a lot of kids before that since my mom is her babysitter while I am at work. We belong to the YMCA so it is a little cheaper for members. We only pay $55 for the entire month. If your not a member it is like $80-$90 something. I can tell you that I know KinderCare is extremely expensive!! I checked there and for my daughter to go one full day a week it was something like $40 a week...keep in mind that's for one day.
Good luck in your search

I'm sorry I can't really help you. I would like to know myself if their was a summer pre-school. I have never come across one, but it would be a nice idea. I know there are plenty of daycares who also offer pre-school, but I think even they stop their classes with the rest of them. Good Luck and let me know if you find something.
