Seeking Referral at Town and Country Pediatrics at Clybourn Location

Hi- I have recently switched pediatrician offices due to an insurance change. We have had 1 appointment for my 2 1/2 year old daughter at Town and Country and I do not want to return to the MD we saw. Since the appointment, I have been hearing from friends that they too are having trouble finding a physician they like at that office. This really surprises me as I have always heard positive things about the office. We need to return for my other daughter who is 7 months old and I want to get off to a better start. We are looking for someone who clearly adores children and is not all about the rush of getting in and out of the room in record time. I am a nurse and clearly understand how the medical field is run, so I am not asking for anything extraordinary.....just a pediatrician at the office who can click with me and my girls. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have 2 sons and we see Dr. Jenny Hong and Dr. Barbara Johnston. Do not see Dr. Howard Rice!! He is the only ped. there that we have not liked.
I have VERY positive things to say about T & C. I am sorry you have run into a couple of bad peds. But try these 2 docs. They are both young, energetic and have kids of their own.

I have been seeing Dr. Holmes for nearly 5 years since the birth of my daughter and I LOVE LOVE LOVE her and so do my daughter, and now son, She is compassionate, loving, she's like a second mommy in the room. We have seen other doctors on sick visits (Dr. Bergquist (sp?) is great too) Some of the male docs i haven't clicked with, but I've always felt like I was getting great care, whether I was an emergency drop-in or had a regular appointment.

Hi J.,
Dr. Cathy DiVincenzo in Skokie (near Old Orchard Shopping Center)is great ###-###-####. She is worth the 15 to 20 minute drive. She has 3 other partners (2 women & 1 man), that are also very nice.

Hi J., We actually do not go to town and country peds anymore because it was too busy of a practice for me... they had great hours but I had an incident with my child that they did not respond to in the correct way or what I felt was correct and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. The doctor we saw there I LOVED. It was doctor Barbara Johnston. We saw her for the first 9 months and if we could have seen her for EVERY appt. I would have stuck with them. If you are lucky enough to get into see Dr. Jenny Hong, she is wonderful also! Good luck, I'm sure you will find a ped there that you click with!

I agree with Kristine. We have Dr. Hong as our primary. My daughter has a fairly serious medical condition and Dr. Hong has been WONDERFUL and very attentive. However, she is part time, and a little harder to get into now. We have also seen Dr. Holmes and Johnston regarding my daughter's care, and they have also been wonderful. Dr. Johnston even called me back herself. I would suggest seeing a few or at least meeting them.

J., our favorites there are Drs. Goldberg, Papacek, and Wyman, though we, too, see a rotating circuit of doctors. We've been quite happy with the care we've gotten there.

J.: I have used T&C exclusively for my 4 children for the past 6 1/2 years. I only see Dr. Diane Holmes. She is exactly what you are looking for. I believe she rotates locations so regardless of what area of town you are in, she shouldn't be too far, although she is worth the extra commute if necessary.

We have seen quite a few of the Dr's at Town and County on Clybourn. There are two Dr's that I would recommend. Our regular doctor is Dr. Wyman. She really takes your opinions into account and she works hard to resolve any problems your baby may have. I can't recommend her enough - one tip...don't wait until the last minute to book appts with her as her schedule fills up quickly.

We have also seen Dr. Hong a few times and I was very impressed with her as well - if Dr. Wyman is not available I always ask for her.

Good luck.

I used to go to Dr. Mark Rosenberg at Childrens Health Associates. It is pretty near Town and county. He is great - clearly loves children. He is a past president of the IL Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and so is also very up to date on what is new etc. We moved to Oak Park and so I don't go there anymore but I miss it.

We see Dr. Holmes and she is wonderful. The only negative is that she is at the Clybourn location only on Tuesday and Sunday.

HI I have 2 girls age 4 and 2 and we have gone to Town and Country and still go. We were at the Clybourn location for 2 yrs and are now at the Glenview. We saw Dr. Johnston and we really liked her she has a warm easy going manner. She does not go to Glenview or we would still see her. I have also heard Dr Papachek is great. We currently see Dr Polin who is pretty good too. Good luck.

We found Jennifer Bergquist has been absolutely wonderful! We went to a couple first, then just stuck with her and we love her. My girlfriend has gone to Diane Holmes for her now 4-year old and she recommends her highly too. I've found the practice a great resource for us -- the nurses are knowledgable and I like the size of the office. Good luck!

I have been seeing Dr. Diane Holmes for the last two years. My OB also reccomended the place and she always goes to Dr. Freedman. I think both doctors are kind, never in a rush and great with kids. I have never had a problem with them. There are doctors in the office that I do not like and have been stuck with them when my children were brought in on a sick visit, but that can happen at any office. You will never like the whole office all the time.

The first time I took my oldest son to Town and Country was back in 2000. I saw a doctor there there that I didn't like too much. (He talked to me like I was an idiot... My son was a new born at the time.) The next time I went I saw Dr Polin, and I thought he was awesome. That is who both my sons now see. I would highly recommend him.

I also love that practice and we have been going for almost a year. We regularly see Dr. Blade and have been very happy with her. We have also seen Dr. Holmes, Dr. Goldberg, and Dr. Papacek and have been happy with all of them for both well child visits and illnesses. Hope you have better luck there. I don't know if this makes any difference but we do attend the LIncoln Ave office, but I know that all the dr's rotate offices on different days.

My doctor is Dori Kadzin at Town and Country Pediatrics and so far so good. She answers all my questions and concerns and is definitely into the well being of my five month old. I am also switching my four year old from a different pediatrician to Dr. Kadzin. She is not exactly "sweet", but she gets to the point, the well being of my children.

Based on the experiences that I (and other moms that I have talked to) have had with Town and Country, I am not sure that you will get what you are looking for. It is amazing to me that they have a steady patient base, but I think that it has much more to do with hours and location than medical care.

We have been seeing Dr. Barbara Johnston at Town and Country since the girls were babies and love her. My girls are now 8 & 10. She is a great doc, very caring and sweet with the kids. I think the practice is good but there are definitely problems there, such as the size they've grown to. Although they do have weekend and evening hours, it's sometimes difficult to get an appointment unless you call months in advance or unless your child is sick, in which case you can get same day appointments if you call early enough. But a sick visit won't guarantee you'll get your regular doc. If the other office, the one at Touhy and Lincoln is convenient for you, it's definitely less of a cattle call--smaller and much less hectic, though I don't think Dr. Johnston works from there. Some docs work both offices. We've seen other docs we've liked, but there's some turnover there and there seem to be new docs joining the practice quite often. But she's been there for at least 10 1/2 years, as long as we've been going and we really do like her. Good Luck! : )

If your insurance accepts it, I highly recommend Children's Healthcare Associates at 2835 N Halsted. Their office is run really well (appts are almost ALWAYS on time) and the docs and nurses are super. My kid's primary doc is Dr Ken Lyons, and I'd also recommend Dr Carrie Gosch. We love this practice and they're great at caring for my son who has heart problems. I've also seen lots of endorsements for them on my church Mom's Group list, so I know I'm not the only one who likes the practice. Good luck!

Depending on what your insurance says, I have a perfect doctor! She is in Western Springs, which is a little bit of a hike for my family since we moved out of the area one year ago. Dr. Rebecca Preston is a family doctor, which we just love. She delivered not only my two little girls, 5 and 1, but my husband's brothers, 12 and 15! Wonderful doctor who always has time and will squeeze you in anytime, especially when you have a sick child. She even takes all of her after hours calls directly on her cell phone. Fabulous doctor, worth checking out!
