I am looking for swimming lessons for my 8 year old son and also would like to get him involved in recreational sports such as soccer or baseball around Carrollton/Addison area. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Look for an Emler swim school. They are great, and limit the class sizes to 4 children.

As another poster recommended...for swimming lessons try the Carrollton Parks program. They offer private as well as group lessons. Awesome program. We plan on going again this year. The private lessons are great.

As for indoor sports...you can try Soccer Tots that goes to age of 10. They meet in the American Indoor Sports Center on Hebron in North Carrollton. They have a web site. I think they even started a baseball program this year.

I have two suggestions. The city of carrollton has a fabulous recreation program that includes several pools (including a rainforest) and many sports programs. Go to www.cityofcarrollton.com and click on residents, then Leisure Magazine. The entire range of swim lessons, pool access and sports programs are there.
2nd, the Town North YMCA at Northaven and Midway. We have utilized both of these programs for many years. Check it out!

If it is too late for the Carrollton League(they have just started so you may be able to still get your son on a baseball team- not sure) Plano also has a rec league that one of my son's has played in that is also very good.I believe they are just starting to form teams and start in May.
