Hi, we just switched dental insurance plan and have to find a new family dentist as former our dentist is not in the network. Do you have any family-friendly dentist that you can recommend? I've looked on reviews on this site but found none in San Jose area. Thanks!

I would recommend Dr. Wolkstein (either Dr. Phil or his son Dr. Gregory) as a pediatric DDS and Dr. Richard Farrington as a general dentist. While he doesn't market himself as a "Family" dentist, he and his staff are very gentle and they all obviously really like children. I don't know if he takes your insurance, but I love my dentist in the Almaden area. He is gentle,personable,communicative, and has a great staff. He is Dr. Robert Jennings located on Crown Blvd.###-###-####) I'm very picky about dentists and anxious about dentists in general, so I'm so glad I found a dentist I trust who won't hurt me or overcharge me.

We use Dr. Kaz Uyesugi who is on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Willow in Willow Glen. I just started taking my 3 1/2 year old there for her first trip to the dentist. They are awesome!! Very comfortable environment...all of us go! First, I would recommend a pediatric dentist for your child...they are much better suited and the offices are more inviting than a regular family dentist. My son goes to Dr.Adolfo Barrera and he is great! I also have friends using Dr. Gregory Wolkstein who comes highly recommended.

For our children (now age 6), we really like Dr. Randy Ligh on Bascom Avenue in San Jose. We adults stayed with our long-time dentists, but found they didn't do well with children. Dr. Ligh doesn't see adults, though, so if you are looking for one dentist for the whole family, he is not the one. His office does see children through teens (and braces).

I love Dr. Yoshida on Saratoga Ave, near Westgate Mall. I went to Dr. Ralph Yoshida as a child, and my daughter goes there now. His son, Dr. Brian Yoshida is also an awesome dentist, and is in the same office. They are a pediatric dentist, so are geared for kids. I've seen older teens and adults in there too, so you might want to ask if they see the whole family, or how that works. ###-###-####
