Seeking Playgroups for My 14 Mo Son Giovanni!

Looking for a little fun and friends to meet up with during the weekdays. We moved to Evanston from Chicago right before Giovanni was born. Being a new mom I have had my hands full and not much of a chance to meet other mothers in Evanston. Hoping to build a community friends in the area to share the nitty gritty and joys of being a Mom!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the ideas I did look into the parent circle and will probably join soon. I did find a free group that meets down the street at a yoga studio and I am looking forward to their next meet up.

Depending on how far you would like to go, a few of us moms meet at a park in the Morton Grove area. We have been going to Prarieview park (MG Park District) on Dempster and just East of Waukegan once a week until camp starts. I also have a 14 mo old and a 5 year old. I live near the Dempster exit on the Edens X-way. Most of the people I know that have babies in your area have their kids in daycare 'cause they work full-time. Write me back if you would like to know our next meeting day, or I'd be happy to meet you at a park....

Why don't you look at the Evanston YMCA and see what programs they have? That way you can meet other Mom's in the area. And if you belong to a Church or Temple, they are great resources.

Many parents take their kids to the beach during the summer. You will find lots of kids there. You need to purchase tokens either at the beach or at the park district.

You should consider join the parent circle. www.theparentcircle.com
It is a group of Evanston area parents who schedule events as well as playgroups. This is a good way to meet other people and form playgroups for your son. I just joined a few weeks ago and have been placed into 2 playgroups, one for my 3 year old and one for my 18 month old. These playgroups typically meet on weekday mornings. There are also "drop-in" playgroups every week at different locations and on different days where you can go to meet up with other Parent Circle members. There are also events for parents to get together without kids for dinner, as well as family events (e.g., last Sunday there was a meet up at Dempster St beach).
