I'm looking for a place of worship in the buffalo area. I am not from this area and am looking for a church with a lot of energy in the service and a great kids program. I just don't know where to begin without the trial and error method which seems a little overwhelming. I am a single mother with two children ages eight and two. I prefer a more contemporary service. Please help!

You have to check out The Chapel at Crosspoint! The children's program is phenomenal . The atmosphere is energetic and the people very friendly! The worship is fantastic!
Here is a link

It is a non denominational church . You can even check out some of Pastor Jerry's messages online. It is worth it , I promise!

I know how difficult it can be to find a home church! We tried quite a few but finally fell in love! Even though its a bit of a trek for us (Clarence), Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church is exactly what you described - contemporary with a lot of energy and the children's program is beyond amazing!

And even though its a very big church, they do a great job at making it feel small! They have so many opportunities to get involved in big or small ways. I just volunteer part-time in the children's ministry and my husband is part-time security and heads up the mens softball team and has been on the bowling team and the football team in past years... and my father is VERY involved, he's in the band and is there a few times a week.
Pastor Karl, the head pastor, is so amazing at putting any sermon into ideas you can use every day! I find every sermon so useful and really can understand and apply it to my life! (you can watch the sermons on the website!) And he's such a people person - he truely loves each and every person who attends!
And the best part is that people are there to genuinely love God and serve eachother and are so positive and supportive! I've experienced churches with gossip and petty problems - its a nice change from that! Its an amazing environment and the only one my step-daughter felt truely comfortable out of the churches we tried - she was i think 4 or 5 when we started there and now she's 10 and LOVES their middle school ministries :) Their entire children's ministry is so organized and you can feel 100% confident that you're child is safe and will have a great time and learn a lot!

Someone else mentioned The Chapel which is the other "mega-church" and i've heard its also amazing!! I think its even a bit bigger than Eastern Hills and has a bit more of a "production" value than we do - more lights, camera, action, and things like individual seating instead of pews, so their energy might be even higher :) they even have their sermons broadcast on TV on sunday mornings! ours, even though large, is a bit simpler i think... but it all depends on what you're looking for, what you feel comfortable with and where your family fits! Some people are a bit overwhelmed by a bigger church and fit better in a smaller church family, but if you've never tried it i'd suggest trying one of the "mega churches" at least once and seeing what you think!
Good luck finding somewhere to call "home"!

Resurrrection Life Church is great. It's in Cheektowaga a suburb of Buffalo on Old Union Rd..there are many programs for kids of all ages... there are many nice Catholic churchs in Buffalo but it looks like you are looking for non-Catholic places of worship... God Bless

Not sure where you live. My family and I attend the Pendleton Center United Methodist Church, which is in Niagara County (Just over the border from Erie Co.) on Campbell Blvd. It is a larger church. We have four services. Three Sunday AM and One Sat. Evening. However, it does not feel large. My husband was/is Catholic and I am just Protestant. We tried numerous Churches and fell in love with this one. They have a lot of groups for young and old. They have sunday school for the kids during the church service. They are not a Traditional Church. My husband's family does not like the service as it is not traditional Catholic, but that is why my husband loves it...I do too. Good luck finding a church. You will know in your heart which church is right for you and your family.
PS. We will start having fish frys the Friday after Ash Wed. We get many members from the community that come and purchase the meals for either sit down or take out. This would be a great time to see how friendly our congregation is and that we come from all walks of life and do not judge one another.
