I'm looking for a pediatrician that supports Attachment Parenting. I like our current pediatrician except for the fact that the Dr and PA's are always giving me advice that I don't agree with. They tell me that she should be sleeping completely through the night without any night feedings and that I should never nurse her to sleep and so on. I would like to find a doctor who supports Attachment Parenting or doesn't always act as if there is only one way to take care of your infant. We live in Sunnyvale and would be interested in any pediatricians that are in Sunnyvale, Mesquite, Garland, Rockwall, Forney or close to downtown Dallas.

Good Morning. My name is A. and I am a mother of three, a 9 yr old boy with ADHD, and 2 yr old twins boy/girl, so when it comes to patience and an understanding pediatrician....I completely understand. We went through a starin of other doctors with my oldest b/c THEY though they know how to raise MY son better. Also, I have twins so I am constantly at the doctor wanting reassuarance that I am doing it right my way. My doctor is Janley Appleton at Dr Wesley Wilson's office in Forney. They are in the new Forney Medical Building on the right side of 80 across from Walmart. She is awazing. She caters to me, squeezes me in when she is fully booked, calls back on weekends, and works with me on the emotional issues I have. Her office if one of few I have found that is open 7 days a week which saves a hospital visit occasionally. They are aslo open until 8 some nights, so missing work doesnt have to be an option. Her office number is ###-###-####. If you have any other questions just ask me.

I use Rockwall Medical Associates in Mesquite. I don't know that I would call them extremely supportive of all my choices, but definitely not intrusive. Other than nutritional concerns regarding iron intake, they have been supportive of nursing (and the only recommendation was vitamins). They have never inquired about sleep or parenting beyond safety and to see if I have questions. My son is almost 14 months, and because he doesn't seem to eat much, they actually asked me not to wean to whole milk so that he can continue to get the nutrition he needs. That's far more supportive than my friends and family are sometimes :-)

Dr. Jasmine Tejani in Mesquite is really great! She is very kind and has a good knowledge of natural alternatives as well. I've been through 6 pediatricians and she is by far my favorite!

C.,

I am wholeheartedly into Attachment Parenting. I go to Anuradha Agrawal, MD near Baylor Dallas and she is great and definitely supports breastfeeding. No other AP issues have really come up yet---I just laugh when people ask me if my baby is sleeping through the night--she is 6 months old and we nurse all night long, just as we should.
I live in South Garland so if you need AP mommy friend or someone to talk to please contact me--I have a bunch of other mommy friends who are all about AP and it's great. I know sometimes it can feel like there are not many around.

Take care,
T.
