My 3 year old boy has several food allergies, asthma and eczema. His allergist just moved out of our medical plan. I'm looking for a good pediatric allergist in the Libertyville or surrounding area (up to 15 miles away for a good one).

What can I do next?

Hi T. -
I have two kiddos with severe food allergies, asthma and eczema too.. We go to Dr Allen Resnick in Highland Park. He's been really good. Lake Forest Peds insist that he is THE Pediatric Allergist for the North Shore. I have asked numerous times why I can't take the kids to someone closer and that is basically what each Dr has told me... and I've talked to several there. I have to say though, we've been to the ER 8 times this year and he has been there for us even though he is not associated with LFH. He's connected with Children's and I think Glenview. He's very passionate about his work but, he is not too nice if you are late for an appointment!

Another Dr that was go to is a NAET Allergist (homeopathic). We found an incredible Dr in McHenry.. Dr Frederick Hult. He is able to test for hundreds of things at one time for only $75 for kids. He only takes BCBS insurance though. I just paid out of pocket b/c it wasn't that much and totally worth it. He was able to tell me far more allergens that my daughter had not tested positive for with the skin test. I somewhat disregarded those and sure enough, four months later, she tested positive for some of them on the skin test. : ( He does allergy drops that help to desensitize a child to their allergens that you can give at home for 40 days. Kate has so many severe allergies though that even one drop caused her constant diahrea. So, I stopped the drops for now. The wait list is long to get in.. usually 3 months or more.

My pediatrician referred me to Dr. Yasmine Billamoria. She is in Buffalo Grove at Rt.83 & Arlington Heights Road (the plaza with the Mobil & Dunkin Donuts). She has a great repoir with children (and adults). We only had to go once (food allergy issue) and that was 6 months ago and my son still talks about her. I would not hesitate to go back if needed. The office staff was great too.

My now 10 yr old daughter also had excema several years back and a friend told me to try a product line sold by her Arbonne Independent Consultant friend. I did. And they worked. I was tired of lathering prescription steroid creme's on her skin that would temporary eliminate the problem only to return ... so, if you want to try a sample of this line, please let me know. I am now doing the business, that is how much I believe in all the products this company carries.

45 day full refund as well, tho I've never had a return.

Happy to see if I can help you (in one area anyway).

Hi T.,

I have a good allergist that is both pediatric & adult - Dr Mark Kaplan. He's got offices in Highland Park, Libertyville & Gurnee. His website is www.allergy-asthmaconsultants.com. I have a great adult/pediatric ENT if you ever need one too - Dr Joseph Mishell. He's got an office in Highland Park & Long Grove. Both of these doctors have been reccommeded by my pediatrician. I go to both (I've got allergies & asthma) & they are great. Dr Mishell just did sinus surgery on me last month & he's got a very calm demeanor. I've had only good experiences with both doctors. Good luck!
