Looking to connect with other parents that have kids with special needs. Especially those dealing with autism spectrum disorders. We live in the elburn, Il area. we are close to Aurora, Batavia, Geneva, St Charles, DeKalb.

We have a daughter who was just diagnosed with Aspergers. We also have another daughter who fits the symptoms of PDD. We have a younger daughter who, at this time, has a speeck delay. Needless to say, life is busy and full of challenges. We would love to connect with other parents that have kids with special needs. If your out there we would like to connect. thank you
J.

Hi J.!

My oldest (4) was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2. She also has Hypotonic Cerebral Palsy. Through the clinic that I take her to for therapy (Community Therapy Services) we have a parent support group that meets every third Tuesday. Let me know if you would like the info. I am one of the parent liaisons. :-) Many of the moms in this group either have a child on the spectrum or some kind of delay. I think that Community Therapy Services may have an Autism Support Group as well.

Also, I help run an online support group through cafemom. It's called, "Parenting Special Needs Kids." This group has been an awesome help with support. Here is the link: http://www.cafemom.com/group/32

Both of these groups are a great way to network and meet other moms going through the same kind of issues.

Email me if you want more info or you just want to talk! I live in the South Elgin area, so that might be a little out of your range, but you never know. :-)

Take care,
J.

My girlfriend has 4 year old twins and her son has autism and her daughter has some sensory issues. I am sure she would be happy to talk to you, not sure if it's the same type of autism but I know she has done a lot of research and her son has gone thru some special training and she has seen a lot of progress with him. Her name is erin and her email address is ____@____.com

Good luck to you, I will let her know you might be emailing.

Hi J.! I too am a mom of a special needs child and have 3 altogether. When you mention Elburn, it makes me think of PAA. Parents as Advocates is a group founded by a terrific woman in Maple Park. Their meetings are held in Elburn. I can put you in touch with her. Their are many parents in that group with children with issues you mentioned. I know the group has grown too. Otherwise, their is MUMs...there is a Fox Valley group for that.
