J.,

I see a few people have recommended Beacon OB/GYN and that's also where I go. I see Dr. Jarrett and he is awesome! I had a natural birth the first time and was planning on that the second time, too. My baby turned breech at 38 weeks and I went into labor 3 days later, so I had a c-section. My doctor was not on call that weekend so Dr. Thomas did the surgery. She was great, too, and was my second choice out of the other doctors in the practice. She and Dr. Jarrett (a man) have the most experience but if that doesn't matter to you it sounds like you couldn't make a wrong choice with any of these doctors. When I was looking for an OB I interviewed a few so I know they will do that if you want to before choosing. Good luck!

I go to Womens Health Partnership. Dr. Pauloski. ###-###-####. I had my 4th daughter with him and it was a Vbac. He is awesome and so are all the other Drs in that office. The office is right next to womens hospital. Also known under Beacon OBGYN.

You may be in for a bit of a fight. Indianapolis isn't known for being VBAC- friendly. Quite a few doctors say that they support VBAC, but when it comes time, they have a long list of stipulations you have to meet, monitors you have to be hooked up to, IVs that are manditory, etc...and quite a few will act supportive until you're about 36 weeks and then tell you that you aren't really a candidate for one reason or another. It will depend a little on the reason for your first section. There is a brand new ICAN chapter that can help you find the most supprtive doctors if you are set on St. V's. However, the best doctor in town for VBAC is Dr. Soper. She delivers at Methodist and Clarion North. You know she's natural-friendly because she is also the only doctor in town who backs the homebirth midwives and the birth center (which are also great options for you). The NMI Birth Center actually won't accept you as a 1st VBAC at the BC, they will attend your birth at Methodist, any subsequent births can be at the birth center. The ICAN group can also put you in touch with a homebirth midwife who has experience with VBAC if you are interested. The group "owner" is a doula and has had a successful HBAC.

Please PM me if you want info on doctors, midwives, or the ICAN chapter. Good Luck!!!

Hi J.,

I am seeing Dr. Bolin at Beacon OB/GYN, and the whole practice allows VBAC if the mother is a good candidate.

There are many factors that come into play when deciding if a mommy is a good candidate, including the length of time after the C-Section, reason for the C-Section, the kind of scar, whether mom has had a vaginal birth before, etc.

I really like Dr. Bolin.

Hope this helps!!
