Seeking OB GYN in New Haven / Fairfield County

I recently had a miscarriage, unfortunately, and am seeking a very caring and thorough OB GYN. I live in New Haven county but don't mind traveling a little for a really great doctor. I have had some bad experience with past docs and am just tired of switching. After what I've been through, I just want someone that I can feel comfortable with and not worry about, and a caring office staff is a big plus too.

What can I do next?

I have been going to Dr. Zikaras in Bridgeport for the past 2 years.
I started going to him shortly after finding out I was pregnant. The visit where always pleasant and the office staff is great.
He actually delivered my baby via a c-section, and did an awesome job of it.

I would highly recommend Dr. Michaeal Berman. He works out of New Haven. He is a wonderful doctor. I got reffered to him when I had a miscarriage. He was so kind and very there for my husband and I at that very hard time. He runs a grieving website for parents who have lost a child as well. I know he has other offices as well but I am not sure where they are as I went to the New Haven one and he did my procedure in Yale. Best of luck to you.

Dr. Kim Fletcher. I have gone to her for about 10 years and find that she is very gentle and understanding. She actually delivered my grandson right in the middle of all the commotion on 9/11. She also has more than one office. I usually see her in the Milford office which seems to be alittle quicker than the New Haven office. Good luck.

I'm sorry about your miscarriage. If you're willing to travel to Stamford, I really like my OB/GYN, Dr. Irene Komarynsky. I live in Stratford and I saw her during both of my pregnancies. She's a sole practitioner though I'm not sure whether or not she's taking new patients. It wouldn't hurt ot call. Her number is ###-###-####.

I go to Fairfield County Womens Health, Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Icatar. Their number is ###-###-####. They are located in Stratford, by the train station, so it is near the highway. I have been there for 11 years, going there after I had a miscarraige and found that my doctor had a terrible bed-side manner, to say the least. No need to get into all the details there. Anyhow, I love my doctors now. They are responsive and caring and they were there for all of 3 my pregnancies!

I use Dr. Randall Kaump, he is with the Greater New Haven Ob/Gyn Group. They have offices in Orange, New Haven, Madison, and Hamden, I go wherever he is on that day. You said you have had a miscarriage, I had quite a few and was labeled as high risk, Dr. Kaump is the only one I saw and will do whatever he has to do to see to it that you deliver a healthy baby. For the first trimester I had to go on a special type of micronized progesterone which is compounded at a pharmacy in Wisconsin in order to keep my pregnancies, Dr. Kaump worked with a reproductive endocrinologist to get me to not only conceive but carry the pregnancies to term. If I had to recommend someone who would give you the best care, I would tell you to go to him and the rest of the group, but mainly him. If you decide to go, tell him I sent you. Let me know how you make out.
Hugs,
T.

Having had 5 kids I can relate! I've had good, bad, and in-between experiences with ob/gyns, that's for sure... if you haven't found a great one yet, try "County Ob/Gyn", which has 4 offices, I believe, so you get a choice of where you want to visit. They have offices in New Haven (easily located near Yale hospital), Branford, Clinton, and.... well, some other place I can't remember LOL

They were GREAT with my last two babies... both of which were overdue, and I'm an older mother... so... they were very caring and helpful. good luck

Check out Ronika Choudhary in Trumbull. I placed a review in the review section. Also, a group of Midwives just moved over to St. Raphael's... I think they are called Alliance for Women's Health. Search for the name Nancy DiGenaro. FABULOUS women-centered care!!!!! I miss them a lot at the hospital I work at!
