Looking for a new OB GYN in the Gilbertsville/Pottstown area? Also, any thoughts on the Pottstown Hospital? I had my first baby at Grandview, but its too far away now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi D.,
I delivered all 3 of my babies at Pottstown Memorial. The nurses were all pretty awesome every time and one of them almost completely delivered my last baby because the dr. didn't get there in time. I used Women's Health on Medical Drive. They have a very large practice and a lot of patients. The nurses there are great too. Dr. Touey is a great doc and delivered my first two babies, Dr. Tucker delivered my last one. There are also two nurse practioners and they require that you see all 4 of them during your pregnancy. The only problem with that practice is that you usually have to wait a very long time at your appointment because the Dr.s are always running (literally) over to the hospital to take care of ladies who are in labor. But overall I was very happy with them.
Good luck to you!

I was really happy with Main Line OB/GYN. Right off 422 off the Collegeville exit. I delivered at Paoli hospital and it was wonderful. Delivered in my room, they offer all their rooms as birthing suites.
I don't know about Pottstown's maternity unit but for anything else I will never go back. In Feb I fell down my front steps on the ice and broke my hip in 3 places. The surgeon butchered me and I had to go to the University of PA to have corrective surgery.

I don't have any recommendations for a OB/GYN in the area, but I wanted to tell you my story. I actually grew up not even a minute down the road from GrandView Hospital. So needless to say, I was very familiar and comfortable with the hospital. When my husband and I got married, we moved to Harleysville. I got pregnant and choose to have my daughter at GrandView (which isn't really that far of a drive, maybe 20 mins, but my daughter was born in 1.5 hrs and I nearly had her in the car!). We moved to Pottstown almost 6 years ago. In that time, we have had a few accidents that required going to Pottstown Hospital. To say that I don't care for that hospital is an understatement. But I suppose if its a life or death matter, I would go. After our terrible experiences, I choose to have my second daughter at GrandView as well. This time the drive was about 45 mins, but I didn't give it a second thought. I love GrandView and wouldn't go anywhere else.

If you feel GrandView is still to far of a drive for you, I will say that I have heard good things about Paoli Hospital, especially their maternity services. Good luck to you.

I highly recommend Dr. Tucker and Dr. Touey on Medical Drive in Pottstown. Their number is ###-###-####. I regularly see Dr. Tucker, who was able to help me when another gynecologist steered me in the wrong direction. She is down-to-earth, understanding, competent, and respectful. I feel as though I owe my successful pregnancy in large part to her. Dr. Touey actually delivered my son, however, and he is really good also. I delivered at Pottstown even though it actually is not the closest hospital to my house because I wanted to stay with my practice and they are associated with Pottstown Hospital. I have no complaints. I thought they were great. I know Pottstown Hospital sometimes gets a bad rap, but I have only had positive experiences there. I was sent there around week 22 because I was in danger of premature labor, and they were nothing but understanding and helpful. And at 39 weeks when I actually had the baby (a little over a year ago), I went so quick the doctor barely had time to get there. But the nurses made it clear they were perfectly capable of delivering the baby themselves if it came to that. Hope this helps!

I go to Valley Forge OB/GYN. They have two offices - one in Phoenixville (main, right next to hospital) and one in Limerick (right off the Limerick exit of 422). I have been very satisfied with them. I have no complaints about Phoenixville Hospital either where I delivered my son (21/2 yrs ago) and have had two other surgerys. Hope this helps.
