Seeking Non Demonimational Church

Well allow me to proselytize a little bit- I'm a member of First Unitarian of Denver, on 14th and Lafayette, and the main reason I joined 5 years ago was that I was so impressed with their children's religious education program. they teach about all the major religions and then some, but mainly they teach tolerance, kindness and love for all people. I didn't even have a kid when i joined, but now we have a 9 month old daughter and i can't wait to take her to the UU RE. Plus the people are all very friendly, open-minded, diverse, etc.

I'm a member of the First Universalist Church of Denver off Hampden and Colorado Blvd. It's a Unitarian Universalist church which is open to all religions. There are four other UU churches in the area as well (Downtown Denver, Littleton, Golden, and Parker). I've found this one to be a perfect fit for my family as it has a great religious education program for children, a well-run nursery, and lots of couples with little ones. We attend a fantastic church that is an inter-denominational church. It is located in Aurora at Chambers & Iliff or our second campus is in Englewood near Colorado and Hampden. Hi Maria. I don't know where exactly you are located, but I live in south east Aurora and have been going to Creekside. It is located at Grandview High School off Arapahoe & Livepool . I love the childrens programs and the way they really involve everyone in their services. I had been raised Catholic & the 1st time Mark took me there I was blown away by the warmth of everyone & I continue to go back. Sadly, I usually have to work Sundays & don't get to go as often as I like, but when I do go, they are always there with open arms..

It looks like you have got a few responds about a church. We just moved here in January, we live in Highlands Ranch. I don't know how far away you live, but we found an unbelievable church! My daughter goes to preschool there. Its called Jubilee fellowship church, If you like music, and I mean good music, full band, electric guitars, keyboards, acoustic guitars, saxaphone, violin, drums, they have it all. It is very contemporary, upbeat, and the pastor is unbelievable. The have a great nursery, and rest assured your baby is well taken care of so you can enjoy the service. They are located on Lincoln and Yosemite in Lone Tree. They have 4 services, two on Saturday 5 and 7, and two on Sunday, 9 and 11. They have a website, and you can listen to the services. Its awesome. You should definitely give this church a try. You'll love it.

I am sorry it has taken me so long to respond, but I wanted to tell you about my church. I go to Colorado Community Church in Aurora(Illif and Chambers), but there is also an Englewood campus on Hampden and Colorado. It is a non-denominational church with a great vision. When Pastor Robert at the Aurora campus speaks you can't help but be moved. He gets right down to the core, and is very real. He was in the newspaper fairly recently for his crusade to save all of the children in our foster care system. There are two services Sat. nights, 4:30 and 6; and an 8am, 9:30am, and 11:10 services on Sundays. Good Luck on finding a church, and God bless!!! P.S. Just a side note, we also have a wonderful Mops group that will meet on the 1st and 3rd fridays from 9:30-11:30 starting in October.

I know of a phenomenal church I discovered only a year ago myself. I must say, however, that most non or interdenominational churches don't teach about all churches. They teach the word of God from biblical perspective. I've heard of academicians, but never any church that teaches about all religions.

I see that this post is from August, but for Maria and others who may read this: I second Vanessa's recommendation of Unitarian Universalism. There is a quiz you can take at Beliefnet.com to explore your faith- and when my husband and I both took a similar quiz when we were getting married over seven years ago, we scored absolutely UU! We were shocked that we shared any belief system at all, LOL. We first attended a large thriving UU church in St. Louis, MO (Eliot Chapel) and our children were both dedicated to the UU faith there. We even found a small but strong UU congregation in Ogden, Utah when we lived there for just under a year and a half. We moved here in August and have only been to the First Universalist Church of Denver a few times so far, but each time has been wonderful and we are looking forward to becoming full-fledged members this year. The Unitarian Universalist community has been the perfect fit for us as a family- I am more spiritual than religious and my husband is agnostic at best. We want the fellowship of a spiritual community without the dogma and hypocrisy of organized religion, and we are very much against teaching that there is only way way to know God or a higher Power. I hope you will check it out- UU's are renowned for their Religious Education- it is truly respectful with a world view that does not teach there is only one way to peace and salvation. I am very much looking forward to when my boys are older and can truly begin learning about world religions and spirituality through RE. How great for your children that you are seeking this path! Hi there! I have two great churches to recommend you. The first is where my family and I attend. Northern Hills Christian Church @ 160th and Colorado...www.northernhills.cc, it is a great place and has a great program for kids. We have a two year old and an 11 year old and they both love it! The church offers two different types of services. The first is called the River and it is like your typical christian church, great teachings and a great priase and worship team. The other is a new service, Whitewater, that is desinged to reach those who are not comfortable with the traditional service or those who have not been to church. The music is great...very loud and energetic. The message however is amazing, the preacher is great at putting things in terms that are easy for everyone to understand. I highly recommend it. The other church is in Parker on Jordan road just off of E470 and it is called SouthEast Christian. My husband and I loved it here but it was too far to drive, we live in Thornton. Hi Maria, I am not sure what part of town you live in, but we live by C-470 and Bowles and our church of almost 15 years is just south of Park Meadows. I love our church because of the diversity and our pastor is a wonderful teacher. The name of our church is Word of Life Christian Center and we have a web-site that you could look at. www.wolcc.net The children's ministry is awesome. I really recommend this church. Maria, Calvary Chapel South Denver, Downtown, or Aurora are great bible teaching (verse by verse)churches. They are a great community of believers and also quite diverse. Consider yourself personally invited to CC Aurora (dartmouth and telluride on Sundays). We have a fabulous mom's group that offers support and friendship. This Sunday we are having our Baptism and Picnic at Aurora reservoir (3pm to whenever).
