Seeking New Hair Salon

I am looking for a salon. I've been salon-hopping for years with no luck. I'll ask for a short, young, modern, urban, artsy, funky cut and I end up with small-town soccer mom. (Yes, I'm a mom but I don't actually want my look to scream "Mom"). I love short hair but my fear about short hair is looking too old, matronly, "country", or plain. Does anyone know of a really cool, modern salon or stylist in the Tulsa area? Years ago I went to an awesome chic named Marta who looked kind of gothic I guess, and another girl named Melanie, both at the Ross Edward Sebastian Grand Salon that used to exist at 18th and Boston, and that is the last time I've been satisfied with my cuts. (I don't know what happened to those stylists when the salon closed). THANKS!

I don't know where you live, but there is a nice salon just south of 81st & Garnett, called Berkshire. There is also the ARC (Robert Cromeans)salon across from Woodland Hills mall... both of these place are home to some pretty trendy stylists. Another great stylist, Dawn, is at Salon Avant - just off Harvard around 14th or 16th Street... I was loyal to her until I had my baby, then I looked for someone out South to save on time...
I go to a young & very in tune stylist just south of 101st & Memorial. The salon is Studio 2, the stylist is Joelle. I would also recommend Shauna at the same salon... they are both great with color & very on top of the latest styles & trends and most importantly, will be honest when you're tossing around new ideas!
Good luck with your hunt for a great stylist!

Here's a place I went to. . . Rumors Salon in Broken Arrow. It is near 81st and Main, just south of 81st St. I have short hair, love it, and it does anything but scream "mom", lol! I don't recall the phone number but if you Google it, then you will find it!

Venus Salon and the ladies that work there are awsome! I see GiGi and I have also dealt with Heidi who owns Venus. I think you would love it there. All three of the girls there are amazing with cuts and color! It is at 12th and Harvard. Give them a try, I think you'd love them.

Have you tried Marily Iloff in Utica Square? It is a pretty cool salon.

S.- Ross is not gone. He is inside the Marriot on 71st between Riverside and Lewis-closer to Lewis. Marta is no longer cutting hair but Amy is Wonderful. Give them a call. I only trust Ross' staff to cut my hair because you do end up with people who don't keep up.

Dear S.
For the first time in my life I have gone to a Beauty School for my haircuts and color. My old beautician did the unthinkable and left town the day before I was due for my appointment, not to come back. She never notified me. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. My daughter told me to go to the Clary Sage Beauty College on Sheridan and 31st St. I have been going there for 5 months and am very pleased. There is an instructor there to advise, and it made me feel very confident. They only let the seniors color hair. No problems there. I recommend them. They also do massages, manicures and pedicures and facials, if you are so inclined. Very reasonable in price. You can't beat it. Try it . You may like it.
