My husband and I just moved into the Hoover, AL area. He is African American and I am Caucasian. We would like to find a congregation based on the holy trinity. We attended a Church of God ministry (which is based out of Anderson, IN not the one in Cleveland, TN) in Atlanta. We DO NOT WANT a large congregation. We are use to 150-200 members. We desperately want a children's program. We have three children ages 5, 3, and 16 mo. Does anyone know of such a congregation or is it still segregated here!!!!!!
Thanks for any help!

We have a great church here that is red and yellow, black and white. We love the diversity!! There is a great children's program and we are very similar to the Church of God in our beliefs (we are Assembly of God). We are larger than you are probably looking for but still not big. Our worship is contemporary. The name is Christian Life Church on Valleydale.

Hey A., my name is J.. My husband and I live in the Hoover area and visited many churches a couple of years ago in search of something different than the church we had been attending. We fell in love with a church called Metropolitan Church of God. As far as the size of the congregation---it's not super big, but I dunno that it only has 200 members. We go to the 8:30 am Sunday morning service and there are probably 125 people there....the 10:30 service is a bit more crowded, but still nothing huge. I would consider the church multi-cultural and, honestly, the pastor is just the most on-fire, filled-with-the-spirit man I have ever listened to. Every time I leave the service, I think--that was the BEST sermon I have EVER heard!! So let me know if you would like to visit, we would love to have you!!!

Dear A.,

You may have already found a church, but I wanted to add an invitation to your family to visit the Inverness Vineyard Church. It is located at 4733 Valleydale Road (Across from Spain Park High School.) It has two contemporary worship services; 9:30 & 11:00 am. IVC also has a moms group, called MOPS, which meets monthly. You can find out more about the church at: www.invernessvineyard.org and about the MOPS group at: www.geocities.com/mopsivc The church is multi-ethnic, including several other families, similar to yours. I hope you can find a place to worship. My family moved to B'ham five years ago. We don't have family close by and know how important it is to find a supportive church family.

Blessings,
D.

You might check the yellow pages for a denomination you are a part of.

I would say that overall Birmingham is fairly integrated, A.. There are churches all over town who have parishioners of diverse cultural groups.

I'm not familiar with your denomination, though. There may not be many of those churches here. In Birmingham you are likely to find a lot of Baptist churches, and some Assembly of God, but there may be one Calvary Chapel, whereas out west they are everywhere.

I don't have any suggestions on where to attend, as I am interested in the same thing. I recently moved down here from Wisconsin and I am in an interracial relationship, where my fiancee is African American and I am white...I was curious about the same matter, but just haven't asked anyone yet! I am seeking the same thing, so I can't wait to see if anyone responds!
