We are seeking a good preschool or Montessori school for our 4 year old to attend this Fall. We would like something in Apple Valley, Burnsville, or Eagan area. We have looked at American Montessori as one possible option. Any suggestions in general they can offer and/or does anyone have reviews for American Montessori school?

What can I do next?

I've heard not so good things about American Montessori from a friend whom use to work there. Sandy the owner is really biased towards her own children that go there and get's jealous whenever another child out dues her own and she isn't very nice to the employess from what I've heard. I've never had my child there. She's had a few complaints and the State come out and give her a warning or fine too.

Cypress Classical Montessori I've heard wonderful things about.

There are a few in Apple Valley as well that are great I've heard.

I had my own daughter in a Montessori in St.Louis Park and it is definately the way to go for starting out with an early education.

SM - A great Montessori school located in Apple Valley is run by a friend of mine. She is one of the most loving people I know. She decided to open her own school after years of working in the Montessori system. Her name is Marie Zurich. I'm uncertain of the name of her school but it's located in the strip shopping center by Westwood Sports. I think it's in the the old J. Midlings store.

If you want more information on it, let me know and I'll get the name for you.

Good luck

Hi there. My daughter attends a wonderful Montessori in Burnsville - Cnty Rd 5 and Burnsville Parkway. It is just off 35W. (We drive there from Eagan.) We found the school "by accident" and I look back on that day as a very lucky one. (The school currently goes from preschool to first grade, but they are going to extend into an adjoining space this Fall, admit second graders, and keep growing the school until 6th grade. We intend to leave our daughter then until she completes 6th grade.) The director is passionate about education and just loves the children. She home schooled her own three children before opening Cyprus Classical Montessori. I am amazed at what they teach these little people and how the children soak up all that is offered to them. They are open from 7:00am through 5:30pm and are also open in the summer. Google Cyprus Classical Montessori Burnsville MN and you should find all the details. Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions.

I've heard nothing but good reviews about Cypress in Burnsville. We do not attend, but I was looking into Montessori schools for my bright 3 year old and this one was recommended again and again. The only thing that stopped us from sending her this year was her social development and the cost. Most likely, we will send her there when she is 4 and more socially ready to spend a full day away from Momma.

Just a bit of a side-note. Many parents from Minnesota Gifted and Talented stated that they were very pleased with the way the program handles the gifted toddlers. They are highly regarded in the local gifted community as on of the best preschool curriculums in the area.
