My son had open heart surgery when he was born, & had bouts of SVT's while still in the hospital that required meds to come down.
I totally agree with the 1st response....nothing that would aggravate it. especially sodas/pop/iced tea.....things that have caffiene in them.
I'm glad the meds are keeping it under control.

Dear K. S
Please write what do you mean SVT= Is it Supra Ventricular Tachycardia?
American 's use a lot of abbreviation ,which in United Kingdom we don't like.
If it is saw let us know.
I advice don't give food which can stimulate more heart beats.

I don't have any children with it, but I do have a friend on an internet Mom's board who's son has it and she is always having to go through changing his meds etc. If you are interested in talking to her, send me your email and I will forward it to her. She is near Kansas City, MO.

Hello K.. My daughter does not have SVT but my daughter does have Marfan Syndrome. I have gotten SO MUCH infom from www.webmd.com. You can probably get more information from www.mayoclinic.com. Our daughter was referred to Barnes Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. I would give them a call and see what they say (They are rated number 2 in the US for hospitals).

I'm sorry to read your baby has this condition. I am not familiar with it, but did look it up to read it briefly. I am a fan of homeopathy an "alternative" medicine that's been practiced for over 200 yrs. I found an article that indicates homeopathy can help control your child's condition, perhaps heal it:
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Homeopathy-3400/heart-arrythmi...

My family and I see a homeopath for our chronic conditions. I started seeing Dr. Josephine Polich for my DS (now 3) when he had eczema that started at 1 month of age. Her website is here (she's in Naperville): www.dupagehomeopathic.com
You can email her if you want to double check that she can help your DD's condition w/ homeopathy.

She's giving a free seminar on homeopathy Sat 3/15 from 10-12 in Naperville. The info is below. I'd be happy to tell you more about homeopathy if you're interested, so email me offlist.
Best of luck to you!

Hi K.-
I actually have SVT myself- I didn't know I had it until about 6 years ago. I just got catheter ablation done to correct it in January. The procedure was not as big of a deal as I thought it would be and I haven't had any tachycardia since the surgery. SVT was just more of an annoyance than anything else. If medication is controlling it for her, then that is good. Let me know if you have any more specific questions!

We found out that our daughter had SVT when I was 22 weeks pregnant. It was so scary, but we had and still do have great docters who took amazing care of the both of us. Since I was pregnant treating it was a little difficult. Her heart rate was 260 (normal would have been in the 160's). The doctors told us if we would have waited another 12 hours, she wouldn't have made it. They immediately put us on Digoxin. To slow her heart down we had to be on a pretty large dose, which in turn slowed my heart rate down. So I was put on bed rest. The further along in the pregnancy we went, Grayce grew and so did I, therefore so did our Digoxin dose. My heart rate crept down to as low as 60 beats. We delivered 4 weeks early, which we were very thankful for since we were at risk for delivering at 22 weeks if the meds didn't work. Once she was born she had no more periods of SVT, but had to be in the neonatial unit for observation. She is 12 months old now and we see our cardiologist on Monday. I haven't looked forward to an appointment more. She has been weening off her meds since she was 3 months old and should be able to go off them completely on Monday!! I am so excited for your post. We have yet to meet anyone who has gone through SVT. It can be such a scary thing!! Keep in touch with her progress or if you ever need to chat.
