Hi,

I had actually just received the following email from the place where my daughter takes ballet. I have no experience with this particular class, but my daughter really enjoys going here.

EVERY BODY!
Movement Therapy for the Special Child.

Fall 2009 schedule

We offer Movement Therapy for children and young adults with mild to moderate physical/cognitive delays and disabilities such as Autism, Down Syndrome and ADHD. Like other art forms, dance helps us to perceive and communicate who we are. It should be part of every child's education but is particularly effective in the education of a special needs child.

REGISTRATION:
Pre-registration is required. Send check and registration form to: the Children's Arts Corner, 1403 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington MA 02420. Tel.: 1###-###-#### or email us at: ____@____.com can also fax us at: 1 ###-###-####.

WHAT DO I WEAR?
Please wear comfortable clothing. Tights or sweat pants, loose shirt or leotard.

This Program is run under the supervision of Madeleine Kando, M.Ed., Director of The Children's Arts Corner. She is a graduate of the Expressive Therapies Program at Lesley University, specializing in Movement Therapy as a form of intervention for Special Needs Populations. Hi R.,

My daughter has special needs, and we have been swimming for Special Olympics at Paul Lydon's Aquatic Center in Danvers on Sunday nights from 6 to 7 p.m. My daughter started when she was young, and the volunteer coaches are wonderful. This is not a free program. The people that dedicate their time are wonderful with the kids and spend a lot of time with them. If interested, Paul Lydon's and ask to leave a message for Charlie Piper.

There is a place in salem, ma called Dance Etc... it is on jefferson ave. I don't think that they run classes that are all children with autisim but I think that they can accomodate children with special needs. I would also ask at the North Shore ARC and I am sure that they would have a good suggestion for you. DO you have a service coordinatior. they should be able to direct you to some good classes too.
