i would like to thank everyone who responed to my request. this has meant a lot to me to get so much usefull feedback. i've ordered some cloth diapers and i'm going to try them to see just what they're like. but i've been using huggies supreme diapers and i've made sure to pull the leak liner out and to be sure that i've got his diaper on really well and so far so good. no more leakie diapers (so far) but i will let everyone know how the cloth diapers work out. thanks again everyone.

I have had this problem and my son started to use the potty then because he told me when he had to go. One question I have for you is "can he tell you when he goes in his diaper?" If so, then I is time to maybe try to potty break him. If not, Then all I can tell you is to watch the amount of liquids that you give him. If this doesn't help and you can't find any other way to deal with it then I would talk to his doctor because he might have a blatter problem. Well I hope this helps and if not then I hope you find a solution for it.

My oldest son was the same way untill I started using Target brand diapers. I don't know if that really fixed the problem but it saved on wet clothes...Plus you might have to watch how his little boy parts are laying in the diaper!!! That is something my doctor told me but was never sure how to fix that problem.. We now only use the Target brand for your youngest son and have not had a problem yet... Hope that helps alittle...

I have to change my son's diaper a second time after he goes to bed, because he seems to potty everything he drank in his diaper in the next couple of hours after he falls asleep! It seems the Pampers Cruisers do the best for retaining the liquid! They are a little more expensive, but do the job better than other diapers. I still check his diaper after he goes to sleep, and usually has it full within a few hours.

Hi, J.

Have you tried rubber pants over the diaper? I used to do that with my daughter, and it seemed to cut down on the wetness of her pajamas and bed.

Have you tried different brands? I've found that pampers work for smaller bottoms and Huggies ultratrim help with bigger booties. I have a friend that swears her "fuzzy buns" cloth diapers never leak. That is a pretty big statment -- but may be worth a try. She let me borrow one once and they were very nice. The 'pad' goes inside the outer cover so it's called a "pocket diaper." Cutting liquids is about the only other thing you can do. I have found too that my sons wetting through diapers goes in cycles. It happens until I think I'm going to lose my mind -- and then it stops and they go back to normal. Maybe you'd want to change the diaper before you go to sleep and see if that helps for awhile? Hang in there!

My son did this when he was younger, I found that Luvs did the trick! Also try rubber underware liners at bed time, that should keep it all in at night. But I did find that luvs made the leeking stop!

I agree that the Pamper's are the best at retaining the liquid. With my daughter, she would wet through any other kind!

Hiya J., I have a 3 yr old still in diapers and she's a medical baby. I have found when my lil' Ashlynn does go to potty in her diaper, that Luvs with EXTRA LEAK-GUARD and Huggies Natural SUPREME are the best. Technically you should use the diaper that is your child's weight, but if you use one of those two brands it should help you. My daughter can pack a lot of urine in them things and although they sag, they still hold the pee; with no leak. Oh, it helps to make sure the buttcheeks are covered. Sometimes putting a diaper on quickly, proper placement does get overlooked. Good Luck.

J.,
My son did this exact same thing. I did alot of the brand switching, fluid cutting and also did a lot of laundry.
John would walk up soaked every morning no matter what i did...

Come to find out he had a disease. I am not saying your daughter has this, but if you find that you have tried everything, listen to your instinct. John was finally DX this Decemeber - he just turned 5. He is now on meds, and thriving...but before that, he was consumed with trying to get enough to drink (over 140 ounces of water a day)

If you have more questions, i will gladly answer. If you want to research it is called Diabetes Insispidus.

The only sign when JOhn was little was the diaper thing and that he seemed to starve when it was bottle time, but he was just really thirtsy.
Diabetes Insipidus is where the body doesn't make the hormone to tell you to stop peeing - so you have to drink more.

I don't want to scare you, but inform....

Only Pampers Baby Dry has worked to keep my 2 year old dry overnight. They really hold a lot of liquid. I have tried other brands and have ended up having to wash his sheets every time! So the extra $ is worth the saved time and energy.

Hello. I would consider using cloth diapers (at least at night). I have started using them full time at home. I was skeptical at first, but now have been completely won over by them and prefer them to disposables. There are so many choices now. Just do a google search or check ebay and you will be amazed! Diaperpin.com is a great place to find reviews and get lots of useful information about cloth diapering. Even if you decide cloth diapering is not for you, you might want to consider buying a few covers to put over the disposables at night. I really like Stacinator So Simple covers for nighttime. If you get a good fit, these work great. I also might recommend a fleece cover like Bear Bottom Soakers. Fleece helps wick moisture away. Wool covers are also great because they are a natural fiber and have antimicrobial properties. If you do cloth, hemp fabrics are very absorbent. Hope this helps!
P.S. If you are in the Bloomington area, there are 2 local stores that sell cloth diapers where you could also get more information and take a look at them: Natural Elements on the east side of the square and Barefoot Kids on West Kirkwood (5th) just west of Rogers.

Okay there is a ruffle on the leg of diapers. when you put the diaper on go to the leg and reach for the ruffle on the inside gentally unfold the ruffle and make sure it is around the leg. All diapers have what is called a leak barrier and that is what this ruffle is. make sure it is around the leg on the inside of diaper and the leaking should stop. My mom told me this trick when my daughter was born and going through her diapers. It works!!! When my niece was born my sister in law called me and told me my niece keept going through her diaper and she ruined clothes blankets and all sorts. I went over there and showed her how to make sure the ruffle is around her leg and she never had a problem with leaks again. sometimes this ruffle will lay flat and they are not suppose to lay flat diapers don't come with instructions and they don't tell ya how to make sure the ruffles are not stuck and laying flat. I wish I could show ya let me know if you get it figured out and if it works cus I have been showing lots of moms this and it works for them. Good luck... Jes

I have had the same problem since my son was just over a year old and he is 2 now. Bigger diapers don't help beacuse even though they hold more, if they don't fit realy snug, they will leak. My best success has been with the Huggies Overnites. We still have maybe 2 nights a week that he leaks, but it's better than every night. My son is a big drinker, I mean he has a cup in hand almost constantly. I tried cutting out liquid before bed, but he will not fall asleep until he has that big drink from the sippy cup. I don't know what your son is drinking, but sometimes regular water is just as bad or worse than juices. I give my son Propel, usually that's what he drinks throughout the day, besides maybe one cup of juice and one cup of milk. Just don't get the lemon flavor, because that makes them really go!! Also, I wait as long as possible to put his final night time diaper on, sometimes after his bath we put on a regular diaper, and it's barely wet when he's ready for bed, but I still swith to the Overnite. I haven't found a "solution" yet, but I hope some of the info helps you.

Believe it or not, I actually had really good luck with white cloud diapers...you can find them at wal-mart. Unfortunately, I ran into a problem with those diapers...my son is to big for them...see the tabs that they fasten with don't stretch. And my son who turned one in October is the size of a 3 year old and weighs about 4 pounds more than my 4 year old. I went with pampers because of the stretchy tab on the sides wich he eventually out grew, and Pampers leaked badly. We have actually had to put him in pull ups wich don't absorb as much as a pamper even though they're made pretty much like a pamper. Some kids just pee so much, that a pamper can't hold it. Good luck.

After trying every single brand, I LOVE CVS brand diapers. Most places have a money back guarantee on diapers. Whether you use a few, or the whole pack--they take it back. I just tried out the new Playskool line (which I don't recommend to anyone!!) & used half the bag before I brought them back. Playskool just partnered with CVS & I thought since I loved their brand so much, I'd try theirs. Out of 20 diapers, 8 of them leaked! I have since switched back to CVS brand & my 21 month old hasn't had a leaky diaper since! Good luck! Let us know what happens!!

I can say just like everyone else that pampers is the best at keeping the kids drier but if any thing go up a size and that will help but i know my little one she is only 6 months and she can really make a diaper full in just 3 hours, b/c i am shocked that i just changed her and then she has a full diaper that looks like it was on her all day but you might just have a big weter but i hope the best. but try to do what others said try the pampers b/c they do work the best i have found.
