I am looking for moms who had Lyme disease while pregnant. I have both professional and personal reasons that this is of high interest to me- it is difficult to find much information about it. Could you please share::

1. Were you infected before or during pregnancy?
2. Were you treated with antibiotics, if so- which ones and for how long?
3. How was your pregnancy?
4. How has the health of your child been?

Thank you for any information that you are willing to share confidentially about your experience. You can also reach me by email: ____@____.com

Not me, but I grew up with a boy that his mother did.

From what I know:
It was early in the 1 St trimester and the doctor disregarded it as pregnancy symptoms.
She was treated, after she had the baby, in fact almost a year after having the baby and the doctor insisting she had post partum depression.
The pregnancy seemed normal except for the symptoms
The boy is... Well, troubled. Not sure if there was a dianosis or not, but his older siblings are legal guardians and will remain such for the rest of his life or their lives.

1. During my 8th month I developed a huge bullseye rash on my thigh. Tests were positive, but I was treated right away before symptoms.
2. Amoxicillan (1-2 months? I can't remember). I needed Doxy after the birth because Lyme's tests were still positive.
3. Last couple of months of pregnancy were OK
4. My son was born with a hole in his heart (not sure if this is related at all) that healed on its own without surgery, he is otherwise extremely healthy and happy - 3yo now.

I did not have lyme disease but I am on a support group where a mother had lyme disease while pregnant.

1. I believe she was infected during the pregnancy
2. She was treated with antibiotics but I cannot remember which ones
3. Her pregnancy seemed normal
4. Her child has severe delays, hypotonia, speech delays and some others

Docs dont necessarily contribute his delays to the lyme disease or to the anti-biotics but they have not found a reason for his delays.

I was told I may have contracted lyme disease a year before I got pregnant with my youngest daughter - symptoms were a full body ache that made it difficult to get out of bed, and a symmetrical rash under both underarms. The titer came back indicating it was an older infection. I was still nursing my oldest daughter and questioned the diagnosis and treatment (tetracycline -which i refused to take while nursing). I saw an infectious disease dr, and the results were still questionable, but he advised treatment to be safe. I never did take the treatment, and am still unsure of whether or not it was an accurate diagnosis. My subsequent pregnancy with my youngest girl was completely uneventful and my daughter is perfectly healthy and fine. She is 2 now and intelligent and remarkably healthy. Not sure if this helps you, since my diagnosis is questionable. I still have some periodic recurrent joint pain, but am unsure if its due to lyme disease or some other virus. (it's very possible it is lyme disease and i've been in denial for 4 yrs : )
I have spoken to other drs about it, and was told I had treated it since i've been prescribed antibiotics once or twice during that time.
Good luck to you!
S.
