The best advice I can give is not to do anything drastic, but do eliminate anything processed. Only eat whole grains, no white bread, white rice, white pasta or potatoes. These foods have no nutritional value anyway. Do not eat anything fried. No soda or juice. Limit alcohol. Drink lots of water-at least a gallon per day. I'm not talking Atkins here-we need fruits & vegetables for good health.
There is also a very good book out there called The Fat Flush.
They have a tough 2-week program to jump start your weight loss. I have found it works and you really don't need to take the supplements they suggest to lose weight. The "cranberry water" they use is a wonderful detox & very healthy. The book also details some of the hormonal reasons women gain weight & contnue to do so as we age and ways to combat nature in that respect. Give it a try...Good luck.

Hi T., I'm K. from West Haven. I've been on many diets, I follow them well, they work for me, then I go off them and gain thw weight back. Lost 14 pounds on Atkins in one month, gained it back. I'm 8 1/2 mos. pregnant now, and a few months ago they put me on the Gestational Diabetes diet. In 2 weeks I lost 5 pounds, while baby grew well (did a scan)due to the great nutrition involved: a perfect diet! Beleive it ot nor, my midwife said when she goes up a few pounds, or doesn't feel well, she goes on this diet, loses weight, feels much better. You eat a certain amount from each food group each day, no sugar, low fat and carb, and there's lots of choices so it's pretty easy to live with (esp. if you like Splenda, like I do!). I have it all typed out in a folder cause I sent it to mom and Grandma too, they're on it now too and doing great. I can send it to you if you're interested get back to me! :)

Hi T.,

It sounds like you have your hands full with all of those children. Inexpensive was to lose weight... I would just try some walking... maybe a workout partner. I live in Hamden and need to lose some weight also.. would you be interested in walking some days?- C.
