The JCC in West Orange offers many opportunities for moms and baby to get together and meet other SAHM's. They offer a state-of-the-art fitness center for mom and free Infant / Kid Care for your son. There is an on site cafe' and the website lists all the summer programs.

There is also a really active Bloomfield playgroup on Meetup.com. The Wayne Y has a lot of kids programs and an indoor toddler play area.

The Essex & Passaic playgroup will be perfect for you. Look it up at meetup.com. I am a member, and have met many wonderful people through. It has also provided my daughter will a very active social life! There are playdates at homes, parks, zoos, indoor gyms, pools, mall, etc., as well as mom-only events like movie night, spa day, dinners out, etc. I believe there is a babies only (12mo and under) playdate next weekend.

There is also the Montclair playgroup (alway through meetup.com) that seems to be almost solely playdates at homes on Tuesday mornings, but perhaps they'll expand the events when the weather gets warmer.

Hi - -I live in Montclair, too. I found it a little difficult to find things for babies that young (my son is now almost 2), but here are some fun places: the family Y on Glenridge Ave is just for little children. Their activities start for children who are 1. The library on S. Fullerton has story time for very little ones. The Bloomfield library has a great children's room and programs. For when it gets warmer, the park in Verona on Bloomfield Ave. (it has a playground as well as a sidewalk around a pond, ducks, etc.) and Brookdale park, which is between Montclair and Bloomfield. I know there are some Mother's Morning Out programs but you'll have to do a google search because I haven't used them.

Enjoy your baby! B.

Check out www.meetup.com (there are a TON of mom groups!) and also google "mothers and more." There are lots of opportunities for playdates, etc.
