Hello. I'm wife and mother of two girls. The oldest is going to be 7 in May and the youngest will be 9 months in a couple weeks. My husband works and my oldest is in school till 3:15 and that leaves me and the little munch kin to ourselves. Sometimes, ok a lot of the time, it is a long day, especially being cooped up in the house all winter long. Spring is in the air and I can't wait to get outside as I'm sure many of you other moms are too! My problem is that most of my friends children are much older then my 8mo old, so I need to find a group(s)that will be good for both of us. Do any of you know of a group for babies in her age group and are they local. Do play groups cost money and are they at the same place or different homes/playgrounds, etc.? I didn't have this problem with my other daughter cause my friends and I were pretty much pregnant all around the same time. I didn't think I was going to have another child, but I did and now I'm the odd duck out! If someone could please help me feel like I'm back in the loop that would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance. Hope to hear all your great advise and suggestions very soon!

We have a moms group that meets every Thursday, alternating at each mom's home. We meet in Chelmsford, Westford, Lowell and Littleton. Our babies ages range from 3 months to 9 months.

It's free to come along to the moms group (unless you want to join the association we belong to www.chelmsfordmothersclub.org), but you don't need to join this association to be part of our moms group. The mom who is hosting that week, provides water, tea/coffee and a couple of snacks (say choc chip cookies and some carrot sticks with dip - seem to be favorites among moms!). We usually meet at 12.30pm for a couple of hours. Once it starts warming up, we plan to meet in parks, bike trails, beaches, etc.

If you are interested in joining us, please email me. ____@____.com and I'll give you the address where we meet next.

I have a group that I started called Merrimack Valley Moms. It's just starting up. We have our second group get-together next week. It's on the web, so you can check it out. No fees, of course. Most of the members are in Haverhill and the moms that attended the first get together all had daughters around your youngest's age. So come check us out if you want to...

I also have a site on myspace www.myspace.com/merrimackvalleymoms.

Hi S.,

There is a great mother's group in Newburyport, and I think there is also one in Amesbury too. Here is the website for the NPT one.

http://www.newburyportmothers.com/

There is a parent/baby group at Exeter Hospital too, but that is a little bit of a drive for you.

Hope you are able to find something you like. And congrats on the new baby! :)

Hi S.-

The Mother Connection is a very good mothers group based out of either andover or North Andover. Website is: www.themotherconnection.com

There is a fee to join, most of my neighbors are members and rave about all of the activities from baby groups to volunteer work. Hope this helps.

Hi S.,
You could check on www.meetups.com
I believe they have playgroups and things. Not sure if it costs or not.
