Welcome to mamapedia!

First - change your title so that you will get more people to answer your question to something like "nodules on the side of 1 year old neck"

The lumps you see on the side of his neck are lymph nodes. They should NOT hurt him should move around a little bit.

They are enlarged as his body is fighting off an infection. My 10 year old son has lymph nodes that get so enlarged they have SOMETIMES looked like the side of Frankenstein's neck!

How do they go away? When the body is finished fighting whatever it is he is fighting. Ensure he drinks plenty of water and liquids to help flush his system out.

Good luck.

Go to the doctor.

99% of the time that's lymph nodes ... Indicating that he's sick.
1% of the time its something else that needs more urgent medical attention.

They are probably swollen glands from a virus or infection. Has he recently had a cold? My son had swollen glands in his neck that stayed swollen for two years. They go away on their own. It is normal. Check with your doctor if you are concerned.

How big are they? My son has always had visible lymph nodes in his neck they are about pea size and the dr said that its normal and unless they get bigger or become painful to not worry about them. I dont mess with them unless they look bigger or just to do a quick check to see that they havent grown.

They may be lymph nodes. Sometimes they enlarge when fighting an illness. Next time they show up, visit your pediatrician just to be sure.
