I recently moved to the Manhattan Beach area and am wondering what is a good Mom's group? I would like to find an interactive class where I can meet other Moms as well as socialize my daughter more. I have looked at the Mommy and Me website and am just not sure which group would be the best fit. There are a lot of choices out there and I am just not sure which one may be better than another. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

South Bay Adult School has a great program! It is for mom & baby - set up to "educate" you on parenting...super helpful! I started in th program 7 years ago with my oldest son & still maintain amazing friendships with a group of 10-12 women! We have been through so much together & we are all so grateful to that program for bringing us together!

Check out Tracy's Tunes and Tales for Tots taught by Tracy Blender offered through the City of Manhattan Beach. www.citymb.info

I went to her classes with both of my girls - she does both a tot and toddler program and it was really helpful in the different stages and discussing issues that came up along the way.

I attend a wonderful class with my daughter who's about the same age. It's based on the RIE method of parenting (www.rie.org) whose philosophy is to "observe more, do less" in order to nurture more self-confidence in your child. Karen Ziskin (who teaches the class) is a wonderful guide and the kids simply love coming to class each week. I went through the experience with my 2 year old son as well and we all benefitted in so many positive ways. I can't recommend it enough!

Here's Karen's website if you want to learn more or contact her about class availability: http://www.babyclasses4parents.com/

Good luck!

I am on an email list for the MB area, it is related to stroller strides and I think luna moms, and it is great. There are mommy baby activities a few times a week. I have an 8 month old baby girl and we do mommy and me (parenting class) through South Bay Adult school, it is also great. I will get your email on the group list if you like.

Hi J.-
I agree with the other posts - South Bay Adult School is great. I've met some wonderful moms through it. I also recommend the Sign & Music class at Wondernation. My daughter LOVES this class. There's also MyGym - very fun for the kids to be able to run around and do all different types of exercises.
Good luck-

Look at www.momsclub.org. I have been in a Moms Club for 2 1/2 years and I love it. The website should let you know how to get in touch with your local group.

My girls are now 3 and 6, but the South Bay Adult School was a good fit for me with my first. A chance for the kids to play and talk with other moms. My closest mommy and me group was through meeting two other new moms at church and we're still close friends 6 years later. -- P. T.

Mommy and Me classes through the South Bay Adult School are THE BEST. And you can go all the way through to Pre-K in the program if you like it. I met some of my closest friends there starting when my son was 8 months old. They have classes every day of the week so pick the one that fits your schedule and then as you meet folks you like, try to stick to a schedule with them. That is what we did and we had a wonderful experience.

The most popular Mommy and Me program in our area is through South Bay Adult School. It's a great program for moms and kids! I believe they are currently enrolling for their summer and fall programs. Good luck!
