Seeking Modeling Agent for Infant Under 1 Year Old

My mom keeps pushing me to look into getting my 6 1/2 month-old son into some basic modeling. She says she thinks he'd be a great Gerber Baby. I'm very protective of him, and would never want it to become this overwhelming thing for him, but I'm willing to look into it. Was wondering if anyone had experience in this area, and perhaps knew of any agents or ways to get into this and at least experience it once to see if it would work out.

If you're really interested, check online with gerber and gap. They both have the baby of the year contest every year(their models get too old all the time) If you send in your photos directly you could get a start and see where it goes. If youre really interested in the whole modeling world, thats a whole other ball of wax. Find a modeling agency that does not require any fees. If you get work they get paid. They should also be setting up the appts for you to get your portfolio done. Expect to be at many cattle calls, auditions, lots of makeup, and your child will have to be on ready to work on the spot.

Hi E.,

Take out some of your best photos, I think 3 is what they call for and send them into the modeling agencies. They don't need professional pictures (can't remember what they call them) until they are 1 year. I did this with my son and he was excepted to Ford Modeling, located in downtown Chicago.
There are some downfalls. You Must be able to make the casting call dates when they call you for a shoot and you're baby must be more relaxed than the baby who is anxious and easily upsets.
My brain is not working this morning, too much going through it, but I wanted to comment.
It's been years since I had him in modeling. Whatever you do...DO NOT pay for an agent or pictures, it's a hype and you will be out of cash! Believe me I was taken thinking he'd get more work, but ended up $700 in the hole!
Just google baby modeling agencies or Ford baby modeling to find out exactly what pictures they want and their address.
Best wishes!
C.

I am working w/ Ford Agency in Chicago. Lisa is very nice. If you call the agency and speak with her she can provide you some quick answers. She may have you send some pics you might already have and let you know if they're interested. If they are, you'll need to set up an appt so they can meet your son. I got the impression that they are very anti stage mom which I liked.

Do not do Adkids or JRP. They just want your money. My cousin used to book talent for the catalog One Step Ahead, and they used Lily's Talent Agency, which she recommended to me. I haven't done it yet though.

Overwhelming is the one word I would have used to describe my friend's experience with modeling for her two kids. It was many years ago, but once she started doing that with them, we never saw them again in the neighborhood because they were always downtown, sitting in lines waiting for auditions. One of her kids liked it and the other didn't. They got used to living out of backpacks downtown because that's where you have to be to get the jobs. If you enjoy that sort of thing, and you think your son would, then you can find an agency downtown to get started. My friend went through Ford Models. You could give them a call to see what it takes. I know I've seen others on her post about this. Maybe you could look for posts on this subject.
