Seeking Midwife near Forney/Mesquite Area

I'm pregnant with my third child and I really want a midwife for this pregnancy. I've heard it's a lot better. I've asked in my church, but nobody has had a midwife. If there is anybody out there that you would recommend I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to hear any experiences also.

What can I do next?

There are a number of midwives near us! :-)

I have worked with a few of the ones in this area before:
Joyce http://www.fcmcdallas.com
Cori http://barefootmidwifery.com/
Jane http://fruitofthewomb.com/
Tina http://www.heavenlyhandsrockwall.com/
Rose Marie Vance ###-###-####

And if you are willing to expand your drive a bit, there are many more. Have fun finding the midwife who best suits your needs!

I used a mid-wife with my last two pregnancies and LOVED it. The last time I used Tina Rowe, who has already been mentioned at www.heavenlyhandsrockwall.com. She's awesome. If you need more support or info as time goes along, let me know! It's the only way I would ever want to deliver a baby.

You can also go to www.texasmidwives.com then hit "find a midwife" and search for all the ones that service your county. Pam Holland also assisted at my other home birth.

Good luck!

Congratulations! Babies are wonderful creatures! They make the world a nicer place, for sure. I live in South Garland and have had my last two pregnancies delivered by a midwife at home. The last pregnancy resulted in beautiful twin baby girls! My midwife is Rosemarie Vance and she is excellent!!! Her price is very reasonable and her care is unbeatable! The best thing about midwives is that they help you have a great pregnancy, not just a great delivery. I could rave about her FOREVER but if you're interested in her, let me know and I'll get you her info.

I delivered with Cherie at Birth and Women's Center. www.birthcenter.net
Someone already posted abut her but It was an incredible experience. I had to be on bed rest for 4 months with my baby and they managed my care as if I was with an OBGYN. They actually would consult with their OB after each one of my appointments. They are associated with Baylor in Dallas so should you need anything they can quickly move you (keep in mind this hardly ever happens but good to have as backup should you need it). Cherie has been delivering since 1979 I believe. you can set up a tour of the birth center and meet with her if you are interested.
It is probably not a long drive for you, just shoot straight down 30.
Good luck and enjoy!!

I had my last baby here

http://www.birthcenter.net/

and it was a great experience. The midwife I used with the two before that retired. This place is right next to Baylor, very quick to get to, etc.

I highly recommend the midwife experience. Soooo much better than a hospital and I swear you heal faster because you are up and moving before, during, and after. I am a huge advocate and had three very positive midwife experiences.

Anyway, I highly recommend you go to one of their meet the midwife/parent sessions to get a feel for it.

You've got tons of great names--but just to add another, I don't think she was listed yet? Is Lindsay Stephens, at Baylor Dallas, but I think you can also schedule appts w/ her at Baylor Mesquite office--you would just deliver at Baylor Dallas. Anyway, Lindsay is absolutely AMAZING!!! I don't know if you were looking for a hospital birth or not, but if so I HIGHLY recommend her. She feels like a sister when you're with her, you feel totally comfortable around her and your birth is yours, she doesn't not interfere whatsoever. I would love to do a homebirth, but since it's a little more expensive for us w/ ins reasons I'll definitely be working w/ Lindsay for the rest of my babies...and even if I did have a choice to do homebirth I would be super sad to lose her! :)
